CF-19 mk5 - two issues - brightness @ POST, bootup password
CF-19 mk5 - two issues - brightness @ POST, bootup password
I am having two issues with one of the mark5 units out of our fleet:
1. When the computer is cold booted, the brightness setting reverts to the minimum. I am able to adjust it up using the front panel buttons, or using Fn+F2. It will stay where I put it until the computer is powered off.
2. When the computer is cold booted we are presented with the bootup password requirement. I know the password and we are able to get in fine. When I enter the BIOS and disable all password fields, it appears to have no affect on this. I have reset BIOS values to default as well but it didn't help.
Any idea what causes these? Thanks.

Flat BIOS battery?
Re: CF-19 mk5 - two issues - brightness @ POST, bootup password
This does not appear to be the problem. CMOS is holding the time/date and other settings normally. There are no warnings during POST about a possible battery wear issue.User32 wrote:Flat BIOS battery?

Try changing the passwords to a blank space and save.
Life will beat you into submission.

Shawn this is something that I wanted to try, but I don't even see the field that allows for password entry at this point. Do you know which menu it's in and what the option is? Thanks.Shawn wrote:Try changing the passwords to a blank space and save.

You should be able to disable or change the password.

Ok, that did fix the bootup password. I missed the "user password" field. I was able to clear it.Shawn wrote:this page

The brightness issue persists though. Whenever the computer is cold booted it will default to the minimum brightness and that I have to adjust it. I am not seeing this as configurable in the BIOS.

use the hotkeys.
Fn +F5 and Fn+F6

Re: CF-19 mk5 - two issues - brightness @ POST, bootup password
For this sytem, FN+F5 and F6 correspond to the volume controls. F1 and F2 are for LCD brightness. Those adjustments work, as do the front panel brightness buttons. The problem is that the brightness goes very dim when the computer is cold booted. I have to adjust it each time using those buttons.Shawn wrote:use the hotkeys.

I was guessing on which exact keys. I was typing on a CF53 and used those keys.
Look in BIOS for CONCEALED MODE.
