1. If you pull the bottom cover on a WLAN equipped unit remember the wlan cable to the pass-through is there. Separate and peek in there.

2. When re-installing the bottom cover....if the cover does not fit down neatly...check that one of said wlan cables isn't in the way.....like it pulled loose from the 2100 card and is laying in the wrong place.

Yah, yah I know....2100 is no good,, but if Linux sees it, it runs it. (Unless the cable is loose) :D

So far I have tried seven installs. They all crashed. Why? Because the WLAN was not working. See #1 and #2. The system (Linux) will crash when it looks for the internet...........waiting for Lubuntu to finish....before posting this................................................................................

If I have problems later I will post. Meanwhile Lubuntu iis dandy. I ike the blue color.

I've been outbid on that one remaining M34. Last look was $25. plus shipping..
That's more than I'm investing without a battery or cover..
.I was going to run some version of Linux on it,

I have too many other tinker projects.....I need to focus....Having trouble with that lately...

There is a 41 model on eBay with a buy it now that has been calling my name. I have resisted so far. Doing the GPS install on a CF-30 mom came over and we got to talking. Crushed the antenna to board hookup because I didn't hook it up. Oh we'll. pulled it and got a replacement antenna later on. Still haven't reinstalled it into anything. Need to see if it will fit anything else.

Has anyone pulled the back on their m34 unit they got off this last batch? Didn't know of they had the dual slots on the daughter board.

I have three of them up and rolling with batteries. The battery that came with the $13.?? one is at 2.04 after re-calibration. I kinda like Lubuntu. Simple menu... The other two are using spendy Panasonic batteries I bought last fall. One I have set up with LMDE (Linux Mint Debian) The third is running Navigatrix Rubber KB....waiting for a USB GPS.

Be advised I have at least one parts unit in addition to the WLAN units.

CF-M34NPFZPM, Looking forward to seeing what will work. :salute:

On that model with all the ram I had on hand I never could get it to go over 512mb in the bios. I have since then ordered 3 more sticks from different makers but haven't tried them yet to see if I could get over the 512 mark.

I have two Mk3 left, one is for parts but still works, the other is a mint wwan model with windows 2000 SP5. Been wanting to load windows 2000 on the other one and update to SP5 like I have on the mint unit, but then try the compatibility layer hack for it to run modern programs.

I still have 9 Cf-M34s. 3 are the Mk2 Pentium III-400Mhz versions,
4 are the mk2 (european) Celeron 400Mhz with SSE versions
and 1 (my 1st one) is a mk1 Celeron 300Mhz version.
oh, and i also have a mk3 with intel pentium III-700Mhz.

Made it back home from school. Got lots of new sata/msata stuff to play with that just came in. Even picked up one of those sata to dual msata cards.
