Following the Left Coast Lead, to me it looks like the gps started, but when running cutecom can not verify it. Also Foxtrot program did not lock in for me, however it's raining out and too cold...

This is a MK1? Did you try /dev/ttyS1? (equates to com2)

OEM GPS or add-on? Driven by USB?

With the XP drive/caddy, the gps is on com 3 baud 4800 and locks in nicely.

running cutecom in terminal, there are adjustable settings for device, baud rate, data bits, & parity.
I've tried all of the device setting choices using baud rate 4800, data bits 8, stop bits 1, parity none.

any suggestions on these settings?

I think your bluetooth is conflicting, or you did not load the entire package of gpsd-utilites.

re-boot and disable bluetooth in bios

disabled bluetooth in bios, and then ran below:
