I am running Windows 7 on 51 MK3 T2500 (T7600 Core 2 Duo). I found it one of the easiest upgrade I have done. Many are having problems with some drivers not beening installed. After I installed all the updates everything worked fine for me . Below you will find screen shots of my device manager of what is installed in mine. This should help you find which unknown drivers you need.
Also if you had XP installed before look in your C drive for " windows.old " All your drivers should be in your old util driver folder. On my CF-30 and 51 it was.

Did you get the windows 7 off fleabay or go with windows upgrade online. Just got the last cf-51 RC4EFBM upgraded with pc2 6400 ram 4GB, wd3200beve, then swapped in a T7600 cpu and got the validation message that said I had to upgrade to win7 that my OS wasn't available anymore. Did a clone from original drive back to the 320GB and got back where I was before swapping in the cpu. Didn't think that would give me the message I got............Driller

The message is from the cpu upgrade no doubt
Windows detected a hardware change and it requires a reactivation

Way back I preordered 3 copies of W7 from Futureshop or Staples, not sure which one for about $65.00 or so. One for my XPS, 51 and for my girlfriends Studio but she wanted Vista back on so I put it on my 30 :)
got the validation message that said I had to upgrade to win7 that my OS wasn't
Yes I got something like that too but it reactivated once I was online.

Was your W7 install into a formatted partition or over a previous windoze?
I just hopped onto the bandwagon with W7 in a CF-51RC4KFBM and managed to get most things working, including biometric coprocessor, hotkeys, smart card and OS authentication. Then again, I didn't have any chip to swap in yet. There were times I haven't the foggiest idea where things are but thankfully, the learning curve wasn't too steep.

Blair, Photobucket has been cranky and I couldn't upload anything. Once it's up, perhaps you can better pinpoint if I had goofed up somewhere.

I had XP installed first then I had W7 installed. When I did the install W7 asked me if I wanted to download the drivers first which I said yes, if you click no it warns you that you might have problems with the upgrade......or something like that. It also asked if I wanted to save my old files to windows .old which I did.
Replacing the cpu is about a 10 minute job, very easy :D

No problem at all Ron

Not sure what else is 'wrong' but it's working sweet and getting good battery time with my yellow-tab batt.
Wifi reception AOK via my DLink DIR-855 N Duo Extreme (configured for 2.4 & 5.0Hz band)

Cheers!

PS: Off to run some night deliveries. Will check back later!

Blair, if we both have the same models, will a T7600 make a difference in display resolution? I noted that yours is 1600 x 1200 or did you swap in a UXGA panel? There's a Smart Card reader under the left palm rest but it isn't showing in your device manager and guys, I'm curious what do most people do with this?

No it should make no difference in the display resolution.
You might of missed the start of my post "I am running Windows 7 on 51 MK3 T2500 (T7600 Core 2 Duo). . :) Sorry to mix you up, my fault. I do have one like yours (MK3LL) but my daughter is trying it out....she does not know which one she likes the best, MK3(no LL) or the MK3LL :pat: . The picture shows the MK3(no LL) T2500 which is now a T7600 damn I am even getting mixed up :lauging: The truth is I like the CF-51 MK3LL better.......a lot faster that my CF-30 and a LOT CHEAPER TOO .
