Hi all!
Not sure this is the right subforum since it's not technically a "Toughbook" but a predecessor - the CF-1000. I've got a broke one from my childhood, and I'm hoping to find one I can use for spares / comparisons. I was directed here as a potential place where folks at least know about this machine, so here I am
Any leads / clues / ideas?
Cheers,
Rafael

Re: [WTB OT] CF-1000 (1992!)
Yup, I've been through the schematic.
When I first opened it, the power LEDs worked but nothing else. So I tried recapping some of the more leaky caps (didn't have parts for all of them), after that I didn't even get the LEDs anymore. So either some of the caps I didn't get to popped, or something else is shorted now. Actually, it now consumes almost zero current when I try it now, so I suspect something shorted open (not a fuse, those are good).
I'll order up a set of correct capacitors and try that, otherwise I think I'm going to need component-level repairs here. Or spares & advice.
Thanks,
R
