Issues trying to get WWAN to work on a CF-54 Mk2

#1 Post by nmbushek »

Good morning toughbook gurus,

I recently inherited a 54 Mk2, CF-54D2900KM, Win 10-64, that didnt have WWAN and there was a metal strap across the SIM card slot.

I did some research to find out which WWAN is needed for this rig and found it was a 7355. Installed a 7355 WWAN car and attached the tapped down antenna connectors, then installed the driver from Pannys website.

Nothing showed up inside the Device Manager and it was a complete no go, almost like it didn't exist. For benefit of the doubt, I ordered another 7355 card and still nothing.

Is there a way to get the WWAN working on this rig. I have updated the BIOS and Windooz version to the latest and still nothing. I even went as far as installing the Verizon Connection manager and it shows no SIM card.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have a great day and weekend

That metal strap with a screw is just there to secure the sims card slot.

Are you sure you have it turned on in bios after install?

Certain cards on the older toughbooks had issues depending on what brand (used computer) it came from.

Older toughbooks so of them had switches next to the card that had to be swapped in a certain combo for different cards.

Ador,

Thanks for the reply....I have combed through the BIOS and there is not option for WWAN. Also it is not listed within the connections contained in the Panny Wireless Toolbox and it is not listed as a device inside the Win 10 Device Manager as a communication device.

Would you happen to know which specific WWAN specific card I would need to get ahold of in the event the 2 different Sierra Wireless/Qualcomm 7355 cards I tried are not the correct ones?

Have a great weekend.

I use to keep a list of the older ones, but I don't know about the newer Toughbook.
