WWAN card not recognized in CF-31 mk1 (Debian 8)

Hi, i have a CF-31ACAA... with a SIM slot under the HDMI. I recently pulled out a WWAN mini PCI card from a Sony Vaio Pocket with 3G never used, and the Toughbook is not recognizing it. I read somewhere that the WWAN card need a BIOS update ant to be unlocked in the BIOS, is this true? There is not sign of the WWAN card in the BIOS whatsoever.
I attach a photo of the card and the BIOS version of my CF-31
I only have Debian installed, can i install BIOS updates in Linux? or do i have to use Windows?
Cheers.

I have yet to get my hands on a CF-31, but you would probably have to activate it with the Optional Kit Configuration section in the BIOS. Someone here will likely chime in on this one.

First of all it's a Gobi 1000. >>> means no GPS even if it shows up or is advertised as such.
See if you can find a Panasonic card for Gobi 2000.
When buying used Gobi2000 look for a T written in permanent marker ink on the card. Several shops write the T on there when stripping components from Toughbooks.
You will save a lot of time and avoid failure by using Panasonic card.
If you want to try it anyway the optional kit password is toughkit.
