FZ-G1 fan noise - is it controllable?

#1 Post by canuckcam »

The loud fan on the G1 is driving me nuts - is there a way to throttle the CPU so the fan isn't on constantly, even when Windows 10 is idle?

Nope, only way to disable the fan is by (ab)using the Concealed Mode.

That said however, you can always undervolt the CPU with ThrottleStop if you have a Mk2 or up G1.

Dod you blow the fan out?
My mk1 is really pretty quiet.

Maybe win10 is causing an issue.

A "cure"?

Take a ride in a Sikorsky CH-53 ....uninsulated....for about an hour. You know you have the timing right if you can't hear ANY conversation over the ringing in your ears, until the next day.

EDIT This wasn't meant to post, got sidetracked moving some cows.

I can hear the fan in a G1, if held right to my right ear. Seems fairly steady...maybe idles down slightly after booting.

So no help here. W7 BTW.
Fair for you/ Fair for me.
I chose to NOT be organized.

Hmm.. yes this is Windows 10 b1709 (yet to update) on a FZ-G1 mk1. So maybe Windows 10 is the issue.
Essentially, I /think/ the fan is running at 100% all the time regardless of the CPU usage.

Speaking of which, do you have the Power Plan EX installed? It has a option for a slow or normal fan speed, I have mine set to Slow and even then I just leave the fan off most of the time.

Typing on my G1 right now.
Win7 64bit. Installed with the recovery image.
I need to hold it up to my ear to even hear the fan.

Here is what User32 is talking about. This is on a 31mk3...
