Touchscreen has a mind of it own ??

Well since I got this CF-18 MK4 I have been trying to calibrate the touchscreen. I can do all the 9 points no problem...press enter....get no errors. The left side is ok but when I start touching about half way across the arrow gets farther away from the stylus...1/2 to 1" away. I have cleaned all around the edge of the touchscreen, I went and downloaded the newest drivers and still no luck.I did use the restore disk when I installed the OS , did all the updates (SP3) . The last few times I have restarted the 18 but still no go . Did I miss something ?

Well I rotated the touchscreen and calibrate it but still the same but on the other side when when I rotated it. Does anyone know if you can swap the touchscreen on them between the MK1 or MK3 into the mk4 ? :help:

Teo, would know for sure if it has the same connectors
All the cf-29's were the same but
My cf-30 mk-1 was different from the cf-30 mk-2
I have never tried on Cf-18's

Yup! you can go ahead and swap it. They are all swappable as long as TS to TS, digtizer to digitizer even the TS of cf-18 can be use on CF-19 TS.
BTW, based on your post the TS can be calibrated without an error. It means, there is no problem on your TS. Its probably something between the bezel that you can't see or clean. An small metallic particle can coz an offset setting or you may try to calibrate as JB... suggested on which position it will be best. Then shut it down and recalibrate to its normal position of the screen.

So I give up on trying to calibrate the touch screen .The left side is ok but the right side is still off , sometimes half inch and sometimes 2 inches.....restart and its a inch off then all of a sudden its 2 inches off so I give up
So which is the best or easy way to go , swap the whole top or swap just the touchscreen

Blair, you can just donate it to me if you don't want it! :D or run it over with a hummer and try to break it... probably won't succeed though :boing: ...

I feel like doing it at this point Rob :blowaway: ...... it worked great for 2 days and yesterday I started it up and it was 2 inches off . I have a MK1 that has a good touchscreen so I think that maybe the way to go
