I forgot it was there, have to retrieve it, probably easier to just make a disc. Mk2 won't boot on usb if I remember. Check when I get into work..

With ploplinux on a floppy in the media bay it will boot.
Fair for you/ Fair for me.
I chose to NOT be organized.

I put peppermint 7 on the Mk2 and forced pae, working great now, can adjust mouse settings in menu and don't have to "xset m 8 1" at every boot.

Alternative to Peppermint as suggested above is MX-14: http://www.mepis.org/node/179
Another choice is wattOS: https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=wattos
I had good luck on older systems with version 8
Let us know as we love feedback :)

Ive looked at Mx-14 and 15, just not pretty enough. Sounds bad doesn't it? Just spoiled I guess. Looking at WattOS, will let you know what I think. Thanks for the suggestion.

Pretty takes more resources.
I hope you find one that works for you.
There might be a way to get one up and running that is ugly, and then make it pretty...
Scientific Linux works on a MK2 CF-29 as well: http://ftp1.scientificlinux.org/linux/s ... /i386/iso/
I would try the live cd first if so inclined.
I guess it all depends on what you want to do with what you have.
That always seems to be the case. Did you already try and not like Zorin as well? And so it goes...

Yeah I know pretty takes resources. Luckily I don't have a specific purpose for this 29 mk2 yet so plenty of time to explore all of these suggestions. Made my WattOS live dvd, just need to try it. Havent tried zorin yet but I'll have a look. Thanks

I spent a few $ so I wouldn't have to look up persistence. I like the USB sticks....these were 32GB. Key chain kind....solid aluminum?

Need to check the MK2 (29). It installed o.k. Hmmm now which one was it?
WHICH ATI CARD?
Mk2 31 has a 6750M AFAIK
RUN THIS:

Code: Select all

lspci
My ATI card is a AMD Radeon HD 6750M as I recall. I have the system forced economy mode from BIOS as the ATI card in optional mode or forced power mode results in black screen.

Tried zorin, like it a lot on a faster laptop, not on the 29 mk2, so saving the live DVD I made. Running wattOS, now and I like it too, runs better, think its a keeper.
