CF-53 CPU Temps too high? Fan running constantly.
Hi there! First post since I registered. I have used the search function, but did not find my question answered. Bear with me, if the noob starts to show.... please!
I have a CF-53JGW69FG. [I think this is the MK 2 version?] I am running Fedora on this, but the following scenario happens on both windows and linux. My intention is just to check if this is normal behavior for this unit. It is running an i5-3320M CPU.
1. Can fellow owners of this unit confirm that the fan is running constantly, even at idle when the CPU temp is below 50 C [122 F]?
2. I get idle cpu temps of ca 48-50 C [118-122 F] and while surfing the net or watching a youtube vid these can go up to 65 to 70 C [148-158 F]. Ambient temp is around 20 to 24 C [68 to 75 F].
This unit has seen very little use. Fan not obviously clogged. I'm running an ssd. I guess these values are expected behavior as the fan is pretty small and so are the heatpipes from what I've seen online. However I would like to be sure.
Your help on this is appreciated! Thank you!

Let me check my JULA...it may run all the time and I zoned it out. Ambient temp 106F today... thank you very much .....but cooled off to 99 mid-afternoon.
Fire a few 106mm recoil-less rifles, fly in a non-insulated CF-53 Sikorsky, all without hearing protection and the fan noise won't bother you.
One good thing about partial deafness is "selective hearing". IOW if someone asks you something you don't want to hear...."keep walking". Don't let them see the nasty grin.
I'll see what JULA has to say.
Later,
Jeff

53J, 53A, 31J all run all the time....I have to hold them against my ear to hear them well. Sound like the bearings need greased.

Rod bearings or main bearings?
CF52M and CF52S fan runs constantly but the speed varies. Usually they are almost silent.

Thanks, guys! Any info on what temps your cpu's are running at?
Re: CF-53 CPU Temps too high? Fan running constantly.
Right now as I surf and type CPU is 132 F and HDD is 107 F.
On a CF 52S..mk4 i5 2540M cpu

My 53 also runs all the time but not loud at all . Just a small humm. In the bios you can run the fan test to find out if it's working ok. My 53 has 14400 house on it and is docked about 80% of the time

Answering this post only...no fancy stuff and .....................give me a minute to think of terminal ..ummmmmmmmm ACPI something...............stand by........THERE it is......acpi -t #for thermal and acpi -c #if it has a cooling type device.
Results Below:
jula@jula-CF-53JULA21M ~ $ acpi -t
Thermal 0: ok, 58.1 degrees C
Thermal 1: ok, 58.1 degrees C
Yes they are terminal commands from Linux.
Quesadillas are cooling off...must eat.

Hey!
Thanks so much for your replies. Puts my OCD mind at ease. Similar numbers here. I've just reinstalled zfs [a filesystem that takes some compiling from source] and it goes up to something like 74 C [c. 165 F], now cooling down to a balmy 66 C [150 F]. Room temp slightly high here now [in the 80s F].
Thanks again for your info....
