I have a CF-18BHAZXKM and I just used the recovery disk to install everthing but can not get the wireless going , installed the new intel 2100 drivers but still no luck. Before I used the recovery disks I installed XP OEM used one of these drivers and it worked great but not sure which one I used. Any idea which one to use ??

You have to go into the wireless properties and make sure that the wireless enable button is on
Look in all the property pages as I cannot remember where that is lol
Download the drivers from intel
I will post a link in a bit

Ok
This is the procedure to get it working
Go into wireless properties
The first tab is called general
It will list your card there, on my mk-2 is says intel 2200bg
Click configure
under the advanced tab it has a wireless on ,or off button
make sure its on
Report back your findings

I beleve that your wi-fi card is a 2200bg
Are you positive you have an 2100b card?

Alex
In device manager / Network adapters it list it as a " intel pro/wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter "
Yesterday I noticed that it said " radio off " but could not turn it on. So I figured I would start over again and reinstall the drivers

Yes it depends on the model, some have the software switch to enable
I will post the link to the recommended drivers from Intel
Just unzip and place in a folder and in device manager update to this version, even if you have to force it
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_ ... 4&lang=eng
I do not use or like the proset software
I let windows manage the connection
The 2100b are junk
I toss them out and replace them all the time
Lack of throughput and even signal quality is the issue with these very dated cards
I would as soon as possible upgrade to at minimum to a 2200bg card
Its 10 times better and only $10 on eBay

Thanks for the link Alex. I must of been the wireless switch that was not installed. I just came home from work and started it up......wireless found. But I will replace it . I remember you telling someone about the 2100 and how crappy it was. These wireless cards are not the same as the CF-29's are they ?

Yes I thought it would be the switch
The mk-1 is the only cf-29 that uses the 2100b card
You will loose the centrino designation in the bios when you update the card
The laptop will start up and say Pentium M as it needs to see a 2100b card
It makes no difference to the performance other that speeding up your wi-fi connection 500%
