Top-load hard-sided case sleeve for CF-19

#1 Post by canuckcam »

Anyone know of a hard-sided sleeve that fits the CF-19? Just looking for something that can be thrown into a duty bag to hold the laptop so it doesn't need to be bulky, heck just a few pieces of plastic wrapped in soft fabric would do! I do use a dock so the Toughmate case doesn't work. :(

Just a very simple sleeve, but fits the CF-19:

I have a couple of those at work.. I'm looking for something literally like this where it's just a hard shell. The problem I'm running into is the thickness of the CF-19 - it doesn't go into ANY hard case I can find - they're all ~1.5" or less.

The product you reference is "hand made". I know someone on the West Coast that is handy with leather that is probably up to the challenge. Just PM Sadlmkr on this site for further ideas.

So you leave the 19 in a dock when packed? I'd need a pattern.

Raining here so my apprentice may show up. I finally figured out how to stitch the sides of Rob's cell phone case. Gonna lace it with kangaroo lacing. Now where's my man? My hands don't feel like lacing...(carpal tunnel plus cold weather)

Ah yes - so basically, the CF-19 gets docked to the car for work, and then at the end of the day I take it out of the Gamber Johnson dock and into my home where it sits in a Panasonic dock on an Ergotron arm. But between those times, it goes into a simple laptop sleeve and that goes into the Hutch duty bag.

But the laptop sleeve is getting worn and never really fit right (fits an old 15" Macbook Pro) but is perfect because it doesn't have any other pockets or thick padding, etc. so it slips easily into the duty bag. I'm just trying to find a replacement.

Soft or hard?
Like my atv seat is soft chrome tanned cowhide (holstein) Like farriers wear only it's hair on. Blue gray.
Option is saddle skirting ....machine goes in wet and dries to stiff sided. Maintains its shape unless it gets wet again.
Latigo is mid way. Fairly firm and rugged, impregnated with wax.
All three will outlast the computer.

Yes Rob I'm working on it. :)

I've taken a pic of the 'CF-19 in a bag within a bag' this is how I store the laptop and move it from the car to home, etc. Hopefully it gets you a better idea of what I was looking for.

(yes I know the big bag has seen better days too!)

Update... well, I didn't find a hard-sided case but I did find a perfect soft messenger bag for the CF-19!

The bag is the GnarlyFish 8000644. Got it on clearance for $10... but it seems to be out of production now. :(
