Kali Linux on the CF-30

Here's one that works surprisingly well http://kali.org
It used to be known as Backtrack, and it's basically a Debian offshoot that includes a collection of network security testing tools. As far as I can tell, everything works including wifi and touchscreen. And best of all NO FLICKER. 8)

The network drivers are optimized for monitoring and full control over interface devices, which is necessary when you're running certain tests. Trying to get things working like this on other distros, even straight Debian, can be a pain.

Back in 2010 I used BackTrack to hack a Wifi AP on my school, so I could do shit in class, pretty top lel tier stuff if you ask me.

In my opinion, it's best not to brag about doing such things.

Setting aside all the security testing utilities in Kali, which by the way you can obtain and install in practically any Linux OS, the driver support seems to be well thought out. I'm going to try this out in a CF-29 next, then consider it on the CF-19. My 19 is currently my work horse and is fully configured for my daily duties, so I'm not too keen on rebuilding it for no good reason. I could just test it with another disk in my second CF-19 just to satisfy curiosity.

Installed the 32 bit version. So far so good on the CF-29. The usual slow touch pad is the only issue.

Jeff and Cleve, you guys try it yet?

I responded to this yesterday but must have failed to send.

This high on the list but a little side-tracked this week. I think Cleve downloaded it. I tried but my system is slow and somebody forgot to plug in the power. :o

I'm in the Adirondaks until Saturday, but I'll give it a whirl and chime in then. I really like trying new things. Update, it's snowing in Sarratoga Springs, NY and the internet connection here is too slow. I've tried several times to download Kali with "no go". I even tried downloading a small linux iso that was only 280 mb without luck. I'll have to try this when back in Rhode Island/NJ this weekend.

Kode-Niner, I downloaded and burned three flavours for Sadlmkr to try out on the MK3 CF30, they're in the mail enroute to TalkingDogRanch. I ran it on the 52 GUN briefly as a live session, and it found my wireless network and connected seamlessly. I'm interested also in how Sadlmkr fares when he runs it, and am sure he'll report back soon. I'm going to try it out on the CF-18 this coming weekend while in New England.

Haha, dragon is the first thing I get rid of. I prefer stealth over boasting when the eventual shoulder-surfers creep up behind me.
