Sell or keep CF-18? (Dead TS)

Okay, apparently my TS is dead :damnit: (and that's exactly the reason I brought it)

So, should I sell it and go for a CF-19 with missing parts (no caddy etc) or keep it?

I should have a top assembly for that ...
Let me check when I get home.
I'll make you a deal..

In that case: I'll wait then.

The touch panel is replaceable with the new style.

Mark 1 CF-19 have old style panel.

Mk 2 and above panel separation will not be an issue. They did make a change in the plug that occasionally needs to be reset. Not every machine...just the ones that lose touch. :)

I have a MK1 digitizer and a MK2 touch for sale. (CF-19) Cleve may have one too. Complete. JUST FYI.

If you like the 18...put a new touch panel on it....or the one Shawn has....best bang for the buck.

A question, does the 18 have the same deal as the 30 in that you need the LCD and outer screen from the same mark or it does the rainbow thing?

I have switched around the MK1 and MK2, never had a MK3 to try.

And just to remember on 18/19 series I have NEVER seen a dead digitizer.

Regarding this:

That/this is a Very Good Point. I always regret selling the first CF-19 Digitizer I had way back when, before I knew about this point.
If you are somewhat handy and the price is right, then a swap/exchange would have you up and running in no time.
The CF-19's have come down in price now that the market is flooded, AND it has a SATA hard drive.
This would make a SSD swap/upgrade desireable.
Interested in how you will proceed.
It is possible (maybe) that your operating system (OPENsuse) and the xinput_calibrator program you added might have installed funky. You could try another newer version of Linux flavour install and see if you still have the touchscreen problem.

Also on the digitizers I know from either ubuntu 10 or 11 they pick right up and work. I keep two extra digitizer pens just incase I run across a deal on one. I still have a few to put together (cf-19 but I think the touch is dead or dying on them) I have one Mk2 digitizer that I am mixing together with Mk1,2 and CF-18 parts to get it up and running. It's that one that was totally destroyed I posted pictures of a while back.)

You can find 19mk2's for $100 in good shape just needing caddies. I just did,mk1 are really cheap.
