Blue tooth help needed with my new Blackberry Tour 9630

As you all know, I have a CF-30. Yesterday I ventured off and FINALLY got a new phone to replace my old broken Palm Centro. Problem is, I can't for the life of me get the Blackberry Desktop Manager to work with the blue tooth. It works fine to sync all my contact, calendar etc etc via USB, but the blue tooth option is grayed out (so I can't even configure blue tooth settings etc on the Blackberry Manager software).

I was able to establish a phone as modem session as well as an audio streaming session as well as file sharing capabilities with the new phone, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the blue tooth so it isn't grayed out in the Blackberry Connection manager.

Are their any Blackberry genius's out there that could assist?

Thanks

I almost bought that very phone today. I need it for the GSM "World" quad band capabilities.

It's more than Quad band... its a 7 band phone: http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=2208

it has 1900/850MHz CDMA, plus the quad band GSM + the WCDMA...

Well I have considered it over the Motorola Tundra, the eternal question is of course, is it tough enough. I have seen the little rubber condoms that are supposed to armor it, and I am sure that they help.

I am also concerned, as Sprint Government Sales assures me that the GSM side is unlocked, but the store is equally sure that it isn't. They say that it has been an issue in the past.

Is yours? Could you put a T-Mobile or AT&T GSM card in it and use it stateside? Have you had to use it overseas?

Is the GSM side 3G capable?

Also, the lack of Wi-Fi irks me, specially when you consider that it will be available next year! Check here! http://www.intomobile.com/2009/07/10/sp ... -pdas.html

Frankly, and I know that I am the Lone Ranger here, I wish that it had a place for an external antenna! :pat:

Azrial, I don't know if the GSM side is 3G... I would guess that it probably ISN'T. Yes for sure sure sure the GSM side IS unlocked. No, it CANNOT be used in the states with the GSM side (I've tested with my co-workers ATT and Tmobile SIM and it didn't work). Sprint somehow locks that aspect out.

If this source is to be believed, the phone will only do 3G on overseas networks. They also claim that the phone can be unlocked to work on US GSM networks but it will only work in 2G EDGE stateside as the phone does not support the 2100 MHz necessary for that service.

I am talking myself into getting this phone from Sprint and finally giving up on Nextel. It would cost me $100.

$100 is a deal for that phone... I paid $200 + tax for mine...

Yes, I know that it can be unlocked for GSM use here in the states... Don't know how though (don't care enough really) lol.

I read that article... you still need an unlock code... My question is: how the HELL are these "unlocking" companies getting these unlock codes?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I'd like to work for one of these companies just to find that out lol :pat:

Also, if you wanna make it "tough" then use an otterbox: http://www.otterbox.com/blackberry-case ... erry-tour/

Wow! That is nice, but $50 for a piece of rubber! I hope that they would be wearing it when I paid that!

EDIT: I found it for $31 with free S&H http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=211480847

But rugged seems to cost. I am also looking at a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1 for my trip, and it cost more too!

Back to the subject of the thread, I think I verified that Edge 2G is the best one can expect if unlocked to use here in the USA. I would buy it tomorrow, but the lack of Wi-Fi till mid-2010 seems a deal breaker, specifically if you consider that they will be dumping the current model.

I have never used a upgrade with Nextel/Sprint since I bought a new i90 when I started with them in 1996! I do not know when my next upgrade would be, but you would think that they would give the phone to me!
