Which drivers, different WWAN Card and other noob stuff

#1 Post by interestingfellow »

I love this little 19 mk2. friggin super suhweet! I'm reading my ace off trying to absorb all that I can. I do have 2 easy questions.

Which gobi card do I have (or how do I tell)? CF-19FHGAXAM
If I install a Huawei EM770u, how do I set the dip switches?

and a low hanging fruit question, 4gb max ram (2x2gb)? DDR2 800mhz?

Although the gobi cards will support data over the tmobile network, it will be edge at best because tmobile decided it wanted to be different, and use 1700/2100 for it's 3g/4g speeds, instead of the 1800/2100 of the gobi 1k and 2k.

I have few things I want to do to it, reinstall windows and drivers, and tweak it, add gps (I have a GR87 laying around), swap wwan card, and get a stylus, and maybe try to snag a dock and an x strap.

Thanks, ya'll!

Hey noob, (I use the term 'cause I.F. and I are friends....he's no noob)

What OS?

From Linux LiveCD $dmesg | grep Intel
X = wireless ready. The port is there and the antennas but no WWAN. Maybe.
My X has a gobi card (2000)...and a 4965AG. I added the Gobi....(Fujitsu by the way) If you get a Gobi2000 make d'm sure it a Panasonic or d'm sure it is not. Mine is Fujitsu (sold as gen-u-wine Panasonic.) I'm using Fujitsu drivers with NO Pana CSA.
What see you under [device mgr] [network adapters]?

Using Crucial's tool.PC-2 5300 2x2. The bottom comes off to replace the near KB stick. I have gone up and down one level on ram...like 6400 or 4200 on other units. Most work.

I'm such a friggin facebook zombie, i look for the "like" button everywhere on them internets.... NOOB, self proclaimed :D

The guy who I got this from didn't know much about TB's, so it's just an install of 7pro. In device manager I can see BT Pan, BT RFCOMM, 4965ag, and Marell yukon 88e8055 gigabit ethernet. In "other devices" I have a "PCI Data Acquisition and signal processing controller", and 3 unknown devices. As I said, no panny drivers were installed.

What does Panny CSA stand for?

Carrier Selection Application. (Gobi stuff)

Look in the big door on the bottom under the left front. You will have a card or two cables pinned to the board next to the dip switches.

For the unknowns:
In Device Manger:
Doubleclick the offending item.
Click Properties >>>>then Details
Move down one line to hardware id's. Like Mat0020 or Mat0021.
Do a search in Azrials search gizmo to nail these down.
I'll look the PCI one up. Mine needs help too.

That pci data acquisition thing is the ETM (Intel extended thermal model)if that makes any sense.

Available as a Vista driver from Panasonic toughbook driver jp >>> http://pc-dl.panasonic.co.jp/dl/docs/01 ... &trn_org=2

As are the other drivers.

Have fun.

besides usb 1.1, are there any limitations on using a cf18 dock with a cf19? really I just want power and sound I/Os, and to lock it down.

Did he put 32 bit or 64 bit windows 7 on it. At one time Panasonic had a zip file you could download with windows 7 64 bit drivers, I still have a copy of it. It's not up for download anymore. If it's just 32 bit a mix of Mk3 windows 7 drivers and vista Mk2 drivers will have you fixed up.

SORRY! I just got back from a trip and had a ton of shite to do.

The unknowns in device manager are all hotkey stuff.
There is no card in the wwan spot, but it the rest of that stuff is there and waiting for a card. I'm gonna get a tmobile em770u and git it to werk.

Ador, 64 bit. do you have a link or something?

No link. I downloaded it from the site where you have to log in with drivers32 name a couple of years ago. Loaded it with 64 bit windows 7 on the ex-girlfriends Mk2 CF-19 with a ssd. Never heard a complaint, everything was working when she got it. I got that zipped folder backed up at the house.
