Has anybody used the EnGenius EMP-9701 Draft 802.11n http://www.engeniustech.com/datacom/pro ... spx?id=227 I noticed the card is a little bigger than the EMP-8602S (59.60mm X 44.45mm) EMP-9701 (59.60mm X 50.9mm) My wireless router is a "N" and that is the only reason why I am looking at this one. Just looking for some imput on what you guys think ??

How hard is it to install one of these cards on a CF-29 that already has GPS, for a beginner?

I was thinking of using it with a lid mounted rubber duck 7 dbi antenna that I have with a right angle swivel. This antenna was originally designed to stick on the corner of the lid.

Or is the general opinion here that the OEM antennas are satisfactory with this card?

I did that on my CF-28 MK3 but never like it , it worked great but I snapped it off once and that was it. On my CF-29 MK3 I stuck with the OEM antennas and they work great.....and they can't break off :D

I was thinking a Mil-Grade SMA connector. The antenna might damaged, but it could easily be replaced. The connector would likely survive some real abuse.

Not hard to upgrade the card, just remove bottom cover and swap. OEM display mounted antennas work great on mine. You can use a dock to connect to the rear port antenna jack, and/or add your own RP-SMA connector.

I have a CF-28 using the 8602 with one built-in patch antenna under a display rubber bumper and the other lead to a RP-SMA on the case. Works good with just the built-in antenna for around the house. Use the external SMA for outside/ long range/ wardriving. CF-29 would be much easier since it already has 2 antennas built-in.

I know that this is an elderly post but I want to mention another vendor, one that I have no connection with other then as a customer. The company is Flytec-USA.com and they gave me a good bit better deal on the Engenius EMP-8602+S Mini-PCI Adapter then Pasadena Networks at $35 and shipped like lighting.

I was also curious that the Flytec site listed the specs on the part at 630mW vs 600mW. Not a difference that will make a difference for sure, but you have to wonder at the discrepancy!

If I am stepping on a supporting vendor's toes here please delete this!
