Mr. ROB

Good evening sir.

Thank you for your reply.

long time no talk, hope all is going well.

I had TRIM support only through the Samsung Magician app. That app was removed so there should be no more TRIM support whatsoever unless it is built in some how.

The only reason I moved over to a SSD was to make this BEAST even more indestructible, if at all possible, especially in my line of work. So now the only "spinning" devices on the TB would be the DVD and the exhaust fan.

I know that Panny offers the 31 with a factory SSD, I wonder if they run into the same issues or if its just with a "3rd party" SSD. The Panny SSDs are sky rocket high from what I have seen, which is the reason I purchased the SSDs separately and installed them in the 2 empty caddies

Thanks for your time and continued assistance sir.

Have a great evening and stay warm.

Nick

That's it. Remove the app, remove TRIM -> BOOM drive is kaput!

Nope. W7 recognizes and ssd and activates trim in the OS. I have included a link, uploaded to Dropbox, to a program that will tell you if trim is working or not. You run it as an admin, when it is done reboot and rerun as admin and there it is...working or not working.

Rob, you never had any problems with spinners? Lucky lad! I will hazard a guess that you were running XP when you had problems with ssd's. XP does not natively support trim, Vista, W7 and Linux do. Or maybe you were using commercial grade ssd's in a server? If so, wrong tool for the job.

I understand a person developing a dislike for something, but that does not justify misinformation. The OP said he is running W7 so he has trim natively. Uninstalling the Samsung program should not remove trim ability from the OS. I would not have installed it in the first place until I did some research. I researched the Intel SSD Toolbox before I started running it on my ssd's.

Hopefully you will not get cross-threaded by my post as that is not my intention. Giving the OP some info and and a program to help him was/is the intention.

Hope you guys get it figured out. I'm done. :)

Never really had problems with spinners. No sir.

Even if I did, that's fine too... Just replace it :)

Gentlemen,

I exchanged the 2 HD caddies I had with the 2 SSDs.

Have not experienced the issue since.(2 weeks)

Knowing my luck, 1 of the SSDs didn't play nice with one of the caddies.

Who knows..only time will tell..

Maybe it was an intermittent issue with one of the caddies.

Thanks guys for all the info and assistance.

I will update this post it something changes.

Thanks again and have a great day gentlemen.
