USB SSD formatted as Flash?

I ask this on NBR in the drives section and got responses of why I shouldn't do it.
I'll ask here to a much more responsive audience.

How do I setup a SSD in a usb enclosure to be recognized as a removable device? Not partitioned.
I need it setup to appear as a usb flash drive. It's for music in my truck. The head unit will read usb flash drives, but not anything partitioned.

I understand the alternatives, but I have reasons to use the ssd. Mainly I already own it and need a use for it.
The SSD is connected to my pc via a usb to sata adapter right now. I had to partition it in order to access the drive. Windows saw it as a disk drive. I need Windows to see it as a flash drive. For it to work in my truck it needs to NOT be partitioned.
I am transferring from it right now. 8k of files...3hrs to go.......on usb 3

RMPrepUSB may do it. It says it will format a usb device to appear as a floppy disk...No partition table. 64gb floppy drive?????

Take a look at the dd command in Unix/Linux. The higher end articles may be some help. I don't know...I just skimmed it. For instance talk was made about reading and writing to 1/2 " tape. http://www.codecoffee.com/tipsforlinux/ ... s/036.html

Have fun.

A bloke should be able to do what he wants with his own stuff without questions of why. See my sig in NBR. :D

Good reading.

exFAT may be an answer.

The dd command looks very powerful and dangerous...

dd is exactly as stated above. But it does what you ask with no back-talk. :D

I haven't used it much and there is a learning curve (semi-steep) but hey..."it's only a computer"...yes?

The information from dd may lead you onto a less dangerous path. Keywords and such...See you got one already.
