Powerquest was purchased by symantec. It was then incorporated into Norton/Symantec ghost. Norton Ghost reads the pqi files and will restore your drive.

I played with dos for a bit 30+ years ago. I taught myself a few tricks??? a: to me is a drive, a space is normally "to" so cd a: is change directories to a drive. Totally and forevermore FWIW.

Standing by....Shawn is more futuristic (modern) then I. IOW he wouldn't say it if he hasn't done it whereas I am more hardware than software.

Ok, so if I bought the software I can't install it on the machine with no working windows so how would it read the image cd's?

Jeff is correct dos doesn't care about caps..Spacing is critical.

dir*.pqi will get a unknown command response.
dir *.pqi will show all files with the pqi extension
dir *.* will show all files except hidden files which are usually just the boot files.

You showed a screenshot of the cd's as you opened them on another computer.
The 48xrestore.pqi and the 48xrestore.002 are the image files needed to restore the drive.
There are not any .exe files. The exe files are the actual program needed to open the pqi image.
You need a bootable cd of Powerquest Drive Image or Symantec/Norton Ghost.. Ghost works because Symantec bought Powerquest. (And turned it into a bloated piece of crapware like all of Symantec products). My earlier posted links from the Symantec forum discuss the compatibility.
There are "other" ways to get a copy of Drive Image, if one is so inclined. If you don't know, I aint gonna tell......






It includes a bootable rescue cd or you make one on another pc. The bootable cd runs the Drive Image program from the bootable cd. After it boots into the Drive image or Ghost program, you click on restore from image and insert the image cd's you got from the seller. Disk 1 first and disk 2 when it asks for it.

Or use that Dell xp disk and just reinstall xp and the cf48 drivers.

Well I just "found" a copy of XP Pro SP2, I can download cf-48 drivers from Panasonic can't I? I think I'm going to go that route!
