I totally just accidentally cracked the screen on my CF-18 I had on my balcony! God! I'm so freakin mad about it!!!! It's my dedicated audio machine for parties and what not! The description of this unit shows a "Hi-bright Transmissive XGA" screen.

I was trying to test it out on the dock I just bought and I cracked the screen by actually pushing on the TETHER (Heavy duty tether), which hit the screen and totally fucking cracked it! I didn't even push that hard on it! So god damn frustrating!

I can get a screen from a CF-18KJHGXBM unit, but it doesn't show as a "Hi-bright Transmissive XGA". I don't know what the difference is, but need help!

HELP! :( :( :( :(

Thanks!

I'm probubly wrong, but my understanding is some of the earlier cf-18 models came with the high-bright transmisive display, which I think means they boost up the backlighting much higher to overpower ambient light in outdoor direct sunlight conditions, so that color and contrast isnt blown out and unreadable to the end user. I think later they went with some sort of polarization to reduce power consumption, but again, just a guess. I would assume that under most applications your replacement would work fine, but knowing you use your outside on your patio, not sure if it will make you happy in the end.
