I just picked up a CF-52SLGDD1M (MK4) and have no restore disk for it. So I got this idea that maybe I could load W7 on my spare Intel SSD using my CF-53 64 Bit and then putting it in the 52 ? It uses the same WIFI , sound , chip set (IntelĀ® 6 Series Express Chipsets QM67) so all I would need to do is download the Video drivers then pull the drive out and put it in the 52 MK4...sounds good but do you think it will work.
Yes I know that Heartlands has them for $35.00 but I need the full model number to get it ...why not sure. I don't have the MK4 in my hands yet to make sure the seller gave me the right model #.

You should be able to load Win7 in the 53 right up to the point it reboots to start installing stuff, but then stop. I made a image at this point, and have successfully used that same image on several other kinds of Toughbooks.

Was also wondering if you can install a emissive keyboard in one with out doing any mods to it.

Blair, are you being silly?

No, you cannot install a backlit keyboard in a 52 without heavy heavy modifications.

Well clone did not work, oh well running W7 64 from scratch but did get a big surprise when I went to pull the standard drive out...it had a Kingston SSDNOW KC100 120GB in it....Bonus :D . That's a $100.00 savings for me.

All up and running , had to call MS to get windows activated but other than that everything else went without problem.
