OK...so I installed windows 7 pro and it all went pretty good except it says I have 2 unknown devices. When I go through the troubleshooting routine it finds a "solution". It says there is no driver for the CF-51 keyboard. ..huh? it's a CF-30....anyone else run into this? I have not gotten it to identify the other unknown device yet. This is in my new CF-30KQPAXAM, It came with both windows vista and XP pro recovery discs. On another note, I am going to install a new micro usb 16gb thumb drive in the usb port under the back docking door and use it as a readyboost drive, anyone else try this? Thanks for any help with the mis-identified keyboard issue.

First lets find the device ID for you unknown devices.

I have used this program with success many, many times.

When you use it, it will scan and bring up a code next to the unknown device. Then you can Google search that code.

Did you use the recovery DVD? Does it have Wan (Broadband) card in it? My guess would be Hotkey for oneā€¦.This is not usually and issue when using he recovery DVD. Then maybe TPM Bluetooth and hd audio fax modem. Driver choices...

O.K. I'm talking XP here but my two exclamation marks were both "data interface".

Searched saw one advise to disable the WWAN. That wuddent it. (sic)

IN MY CASE(and this was last night) what it wanted was the Intel upgrade from the PANA jp site.

I downloaded the complete package since this unit is going elsewhere. Also down-loaded the instructions and went step by step. Worked and works fine now.

I remember upgrade packages for MK 3 and etc on the list too. (Mine was CF-30C)

FYI here's what I used. :salute:

Hold it, hold it.....I re-activated the WWAN in Bios and the data interface problem came back. Hacking as we speak. Dis-regard most of my previous..though the update is a good idea.

More later.

Edit:
1. Running Ubuntu Live CD
2.

Code: Select all

dmesg | grep Intel
#yielded just the wireless and etc.
3.

Code: Select all

sudo lshw
#showed a GSM modem.
4.

Code: Select all

 lsusb
#yielded Novatel Wireless Expedite EU850D,860D,870D

I use the Live CD for diagnostics as it give info that I understand. lshw is a good command as it will show all physical hardware that the unit sees. If you are worried about contaminating/changing the hard drive you can pull it while running the LiveCD. I prefer the Live CD over pulling the sled and checking the card.

Looks like the cure will be to either procure a GSM driver for XP or (my choice) change the sled. More as it occurs.

EDIT2
Switched to a Verizon carded sled and the data interface ticks went away in device manager to be replaced by a single ex! Mark needing 5625 driver. Sorry if this has turned into a bit of a hi-jack. J :salute:
