GPS swap from GoBook 3 to VR-2

#1 Post by Springfield »

Picked up a nice GoBook VR-2 and liking it alot. It has a switch in the BIOS for GPS and WWAN but neither installed. So taking a tip from Teo I looked inside the display lid that has a bumpout at the top like the XR-1. There was space and a plug for a GPS unit.

So I pulled the GPS from my 2nd GoBook 3 and put it in the VR-2. Plug and play, it works great. Physical fit is almost good, just a tight spot where the helix antenna cover meets the display backing plate at the top.

The GoBook 3 GPS unit is a real performer. This was taken indoors with only a few minutes running. Nice addition to the lighter, much higher performance VR-2.
