I have two 52's, MK1 and a MK2. Your press the start button and the "F2 to BIOS" is there in about 2 seconds but the MK2 it takes about 10 seconds to show it. I checked pannasonic's downloads and no update for it. Once it gets past the bios screen it boots to windows in 26 seconds thanks to the new intel 320 SSD 120GB G3 drive. Any idea's guys why its so slow to the bios screen

Sounds to me like it's trying to boot from LAN first or something. Otherwise no idea.

Pull the dvd and try it just for edification and amusement.

Have you tried restoring default BIOS settings?

I just tried that about 10 minutes ago and no luck. I even disabled what I could in the bios to see if that would help...nope. It did cut my boot time down from 26 down to 21 :)

I ran into a issue similar to this on the Mk3. If you flip a certain bit in the CMOS (I was doing this while searching for the VT-X bit), it takes a very long time to pass the BIOS. It's probably the bit that forces it to check ram. In your case however, I see no way it could ever have been flipped short of a freak focused gamma ray strike or something.

It still might not hurt to pull the CMOS battery, but that means dissecting the notebook a bit.

Also, it might have something to do with the IDE controller not liking the jumper settings on your HD. Make sure it is set to "master" and not cable select or something.

When I got it a month I put a OEM 160GB in and then 2 weeks ago I put a Intel 320 SSD 160GB. Both drives do the same. I wish I could reflash the bios but can not seem to find one. On the bright side this is the only problem with this 52 so that is a good thing. Wonder if all the CF-52 MK2 starts like this.

Yeah, I've never had a Mk2 so can't say. Though I'm thinking all in all, it's a minor issue and you got a pretty good notebook there. :)

Not bad for $224.00 + $50.00 for the 160gb/caddy but really the MK1 is faster over all but the price was right.
