They look pretty good. Just did a recalibration on each battery separately using the BIOS utility. Primary battery is rated 7200 mAH and shows 6352 mAH = 88%. Media bay battery is rated 3800 and now shows 2758 = 72%. Interesting the primary was last calibrated in 2007, but the media bay battery was last calibrated in 2006 which I believe is older than this XR-1 so it might have been transferred from an older model (GoBook III / IX-260+ ?). Together both batteries are showing between 6-8 hours with a full charge, depending on activity of HDD, video, wifi, etc.

Small world -- I'm the guy that recently posted the spec sheet and help file. Thanks for all that searching. I spent an hour looking through all the Google pages and links, but no luck finding service manual or schematic.

Teo, why does your GoBook say "Toughbook" on the wallpaper? It may be fast but it's still only a GoBook LOL.

Ken, yah! its an small world. we're just a new member of the ya..o group with Blair as a recent ne member.

Anyway. Just to let you know, Actually the lower case is made of magnesium alloy. The same you found on toughbook. The alloy is covered by a thin rubber and where is your first impression. It is not. but its actually alloy in the inside. But I have no idea yet on the LCD casing.

Ken , did you find out if the cd-rom will fit others 260, 260+ or the 270. I asked one of the sellers on ebay and he said the 260 and 260+ will but not sure about the 270
Going over to the postoffice tomorrow to pickup my 260+ . If its in good shape I might pickup a cd for it

UPDATE
From Yahoo forum
the 250s and 260s and the 260+ have interchangeable media, meaning you can swap floppies, dvd drives, and primary and secondary batteries. unfortunately, the xr1 has a different cd-dvd drive (slot loading) and I cant seem to find one for sale on ebay. i heard that the drive itself is easy to find on ebay, but you need the proprietary connector that will fit the dvd drive into the motherboard. any ideas?

On the Yahoo forum, Tom replied that 250, 260, and 260+ (GoBook I, II, and III) are interchangeable but the XR-1 is not.

There is a decent sounding pair of CD and floppy on Fleabay for around $20 plus shipping that I passed up to get a DVD.

I bought another one. This time its for parts. It has a Hddrive with a caddy battery and Cd rom drive. Although the cd rom drive is deffective. I am up for the cd rom caddy which is hard to find. It can be replace by any drive on the market. It uses an slot load drive but i will try the tray one on which i think will work also. I am not yet sure what is the inside of the unit. Maybe I will get extra item by surprise who knows but I'm pretty sure that the above mentioned hardware will be there to complete one of the three unit I had on which is ready to upgrade its CPU to 2.16Ghz. The Cpu is on transit btw.

Here is the item I bought. http://www.ebay.com/itm/160666969544?ss ... 1439.l2649

Balir! I've guessed somebody is reading our discussion here about the cpu T7600 and beat up us into our upgrade on CPU but he can't do the mod to integrate an internal gps into the unit. I will give him a surprise when my unit completed. Lol

Teo, you are the Master of hardware mods! :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

I've seen some SuperTechs but you are at the top of the profession. No wonder nobody can match the quality stuff you offer on Ebay. I hope some day to win the lottery then I can buy all the coolest Toughbooks that you have put together.
:pbjt:

Until then I hope to learn from watching what you can do. You are definitely the Hardware Maestro! :headbang:
