Sure
The third connector which is to power the keyboard requires 5vdc for full brightness
Its led so if you hook have the polarity backwards it won't light up, but no harm is done

I tried on a cf-72 and is did not,so I am thinking the same on the cf-73
If you can find a source of 5vdc,like usb power you can try a 3 cable and mod it
Its my plan on the cf-74

Do the 72, 73, and 74 take the same keyboard? Cuz I know a 72 keyboard (non-backlit) will fit perfectly into a 28.

The 28 will light up a 2-cable rubber backlit, same as a 27, but apparently the 72 will not. There were kits with the little Texas board for the 28 that fired up two different 3-cable backlit keyboards: the green high-voltage emissive and also a more rare circuit that fires up the 29 type chicklet emissive. I would bet either of those could be modded into a 73 if the keyboards will physically fit and the other 2 cables will fit.

I tried the 28 keyboard in both a 72 and a 74. Neither would light up. Also, they did not fit quite right as the tabs along the front did not align and trying to screw down the keyboard retainer was a problem.
One CF-52, four CF-18's, 4.5 CF-28's, one CF-29, five CF-M34's, two CF-37's, one CF-P2 and two CF-P1's. There are also two Getac A320T's, one Fieldpac and two IBM Transnotes. Not to mention the AMD 5600 CPU with three monitors and several HP PDA's. Whew! Must quit buying...no, must have MORE! Then there are the weapons...

Ineptocracy: A system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Yea, I had a question about installing a Back-lit Keyboard on a CF-73 as well. I have seen them installed on CF-72's and the Back-light function works, but I haven't seen them installed in a CF-73 before. They DO make Rubber Back-lit keyboard's that have 2-Ribbon cables and I know this for sure as a few have gone through my hands..

So are we any closer to answering the ultimate question? "Will it work on the CF-73?" 8)

No. There isn't a lit keyboard for neither the CF-73 nor CF-74.
