Backlit Keyboard for CF-73

#1 Post by blucado03 »

I've been looking around for anything on a backlit keyboard to fit in my CF-73. I've looked around and the only thing I have read is that the only keyboard that will work is the rubber backlit keyboard with 2 ribbon cables. If anyone has any information on this please let me know.

Any backlit one (rubber or emissive) has 3 cables, NOT 2 man. The standard one that you have now that is NOT backlit has 2.

Then what I read from Notebook Review was wrong. Cause I looked it up and there's only 2 slots on my CF-73.

Re-read my post, you mis-read it man. It's clear! Just re-read it... I'm not talking about your laptop! I'm talking about the keyboards!!

If your laptop only has 2 ribbon cable connections then you CAN'T put a backlit keyboard on it...

Yeah I heard what you said, I'm only stating that there was a guy that said it could be done, and that he's wrong.

The rubber backlite two cable will probably not light up
I tried on a cf-72 and is did not,so I am thinking the same on the cf-73
If you can find a source of 5vdc,like usb power you can try a 3 cable and mod it
Its my plan on the cf-74

We have been down this road before. I have tried on a CF-74 and others have tried on CF-72's. Ain't gonna happen. The only way you can do it is using tomcat's idea and finding a source for the power and tap in. There might be a way to use indirect LED lighting, but it would take some time and effort. Maybe one of these days when I can get a few other projects out of the way.
One CF-52, four CF-18's, 4.5 CF-28's, one CF-29, five CF-M34's, two CF-37's, one CF-P2 and two CF-P1's. There are also two Getac A320T's, one Fieldpac and two IBM Transnotes. Not to mention the AMD 5600 CPU with three monitors and several HP PDA's. Whew! Must quit buying...no, must have MORE! Then there are the weapons...

Ineptocracy: A system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

If someone can get me a breakdown of the voltages on the keyboards ribbon cables I can most likely do this mod with ease.......
