I did find something here that suggests my adapter is supported, maybe I need to run that tar file.

Once I am connected the connection has not dropped out.

So wl is already missing in action, blacklisted, or not used by Mint. That's good.

Assume kernel is misspelled...trying again.

Yes I recognize this page. I like the way they write. You'll find disturbing information re: my 8260 card in the footnote....

Onward and upward,
A comment I remember was one where the user found running the card with LAN plugged in did something good...details hazy. It was a one shot deal during set-up.

Here is another one. I also tried the Intel microcode update but that would not connect at all wirelessly. I also downloaded the tgz file from the wiki link but so far have not been able to get it to install. I see I have a lot to learn about communicating with linux, need to find a source for the commands to use. EDIT Yes kernel was misspelled, link now works.

O.K. different machine....just did 246 updates...wl came back or was there all the time.

I blacklisted wl using MXtools and wireless auto started. Interesting....yesterday wireless worked fine.

There's a glitch in the updates.

Yeah, Thank you. I followed that direction allready as well. However, a bit of progress! now when I cycle the wireless switch and turn on the wireless settings (2) the connection is made.

All my other device's see the renamed wireless password, whereas LM 18.3 see's the orignal password. Once the original is used LM says ok.
It seems that the CF-19 and LM forget each other and have to get reaquainted again after rebooting. I'm afraid it is what it is for now, but I'll keep looking.

Since iwlwifi is being used how about rolling back to an earlier version of it? What is happening is the same thing I get with wl installed.
Could also be in Network Manager....although the main card it doesn't like is a replacement 8260 Global replacement card. (Not original Panasonic card)

Did we do

Code: Select all

 lsmod | grep -i iwlwifi
I run the same three letter password for install, user and root. (Except for a OS the other day that insisted on 8 letters.) I want to do it my way so that OS is out the window.

Ya know I might have Mint 18.3 downloaded here somewhere. 32 bit or 64 bit?
