Back in game AGAIN

#1 Post by orphanlr »

It's been a while, and thought I was done with the computer thing, but now it appears I'm about to get a BUNCH on cf-31 units, so I may need some guidance.

Were playing in Cuba, but I cant send them there unless I remove the gps units, and never opened a 31 before.

Were also working in Peru at a teen rape center, and helping in the cops in the Republic of Palau so they could be recipients, but the ripple is this.

All of the units have been wiped, so I'm wondering if there are factory restore disks for the units, like the cf-18s we rebuilt.

I don't have the marks or any more info yet, (they just called me) but I want to be ready.

Thanks,

Sam

How funny, I posted this back in Jan 2018, and after waiting and waiting and waiting, I got the call and picked them up today.

Who says the Government doesn't work just a little slow.

They were sitting in an open warehouse since my last post, and were very dirty.

100+ CF-31s, all different SKU from CF-31A, CF-31J, CF-31W, CF-31S, and such.

I assume Heartland is the place to get the factory restore disks? or Maybe Ubuntu again.

The kids are gonna love these, but gonna have to take the GPS out of those going to orphanages in Cuba, so I stay out of jail.

Hope everyone is well,

Sam

Good line-up. GPS is south east of the ram. :) (handle being north) FPC cable goes straight down into mobo. Looks like you may need to pull the bottom as one screw is under the bottom lid. Antenna goes up the outside and can be removed without splitting the lid.

Gobi 2000 etc can do gps through the WWAN Aux antenna...probably should pull those cards too??? Ram door access.

The MK2 have a different touchpad driver. Should be no issue with Windows as it acts like a PS-2. There's a post in Linux if you go that way...assuming not.

Edit: http://toughbooktalk.com/viewtopic.php? ... =30#p23492 This one-liner is supposed to work but good luck with Ubuntu. This is a sticky in the Linux forum. Endedit

Welcome back.
Fair for you/ Fair for me.

Thank you, will operate and open them up as soon as I finish cleaning the outside of each of them. Already have five hours of scrubbing and only half way done.

They came with 40+ Harvis docks, so at a minimum I'm gonna pull the Lind power converters off the bottom of each, cause the kids don't have a need for the docks. If you want one, just sing out.

Bought some dvd drives off ebay, and a restore disk for one of the marks, but still looking for the rest.

So wild, hadn't messed with any Toughbook stuff in a long time, and kept moving around the warehouse old boxes with cf-27s, 28, 29, 30, 18, pdrc, cf-08, and other stuff, and now forced to revisit it to find my old external drives.

I guess I'm lucky, the latest all had hard drives, caddies and power adapters, so way ahead of where I used to be.

Hope all is well with you,

Sam

I'm interested in buying all of them. I have a customer lined up too but the pricing has to be right.

Call me if you can about them? I'll be at the doctors from 12:30PM - 1:45PM CST today so any time after that!!

Thanks Sam!

Hey Rob,

I'll call you tomorrow, but I'm assuming your talking about the Harvis docks.

Not interested in selling the cf-31's, those are going south to the kids.

Cleaned so far:

CF-31AAAAX2M 37
CF-31AAAAX1M 23
CF-31SBLEX1M 24
CF-31JAGEX1M 12
CF-31WBLEHLM 10
CF-31WBPEHLM 1
CF-31JEGAX1M 4

A few cf-18s, and a Cf-54......

The docks were dirty, but I tried cleaning one up today and it came out really nice, like new. None of them have keys, but I put a call in to see if they're in a box somewhere.

Hello,

I'm looking for factory restore disks for the above cf-31 marks.

If you have any for sale, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

Sam
