recovery CD to USB stick

#1 Post by FA7289 »

Looks like I have a dead CD drive on a CF-30. Can the Panasonic recovery CD data be transferred to USB stick, for boot?

Thanks Again, Steve C

No one has made it work so far for any of the dvd based recovery disks.
It will boot and then stall. It it hardcoded to read from the optical drive.
I am sure some quick editing of some configuration file would cure it.
But I am a hardware guy and I lack the software skills

Maybe if someone would boot the standard windows recovery and then point it to the wim file from the dvd.

Send me a ISO that has been copied sector by sector from the CD, I think I know a way.

Thanks Shaun, I have the panasonic recovery CD. I though it would
be nice to have a USB recovery stick. No big deal, i will just put a good drive in it, temporarily.

Thanks to all for the response,

Steve Carlisle

Pulled out the dead dvd from the plastic caddy. 4 screws.
I will find photos and post them.
