Rob wrote:Yes, but if you want to use Windows 10, an MK6 is useless because it doesn't have MULTI-touch. If you want multi-touch for pinch/zoom, etc etc you *NEED* and MK7 or MK8 with a digitizer at that!

Thanks!
Win10 is trash anyway, 7 > 8.1 > 10

That, or just run Linux.

Didn't know the Mk7+ DT models had multitouch!

I hate Windows 10. And don't really have the motivation to even attempt putting OSX onto a Toughbook. Although that could be amusing... A MK7 or MK8 at the right price could be a consideration. But I can get a MK5 just north of $200 also.

Anyways for now I will wait to hear back some prices from you guys before I make any real decisions.

I'd also vote for the mk6 - its what I'm using since 2015.
The speed difference may not matter to you at at this point in time, but you'll be glad about any additional MHz in two to three years tops.

Just because you think that Win 10 is trash doesn't mean that others feel that way. I'm just sharing my personal experience dude.

For in vehicle, stock OS use for navi, music and a few others Win 10 > Win 7. As a workstation Win 7 > Win 10.

Sent from my Win 7 CF-52MLB.

Thanks!

Church!!!

This thread has much win! LOL!

Some tough calls. Plenty of bullet points either way, but more for the MK6. Except price.

A really good deal for a CF-31 MK2 was offered to me also! Too many decisions to make... :damnit:

My biggest problem is, I am not really sure there is a one size/model fits all needs for me here. For working ON my photographs, the 10" screen on the CF-19 is horrible. But for tethered shooting as just a monitor, its more compact size works nicely. The compactness is a BIG all around plus.

On the other hand the 13" screen of the CF-31 (or my current CF-30) is much more manageable for actually working with the photos. And the bigger, full-size(ish) keyboard is much nicer to use.

But realistically, I am not sure I can change my photography workflow and tools enough to even make using a Toughbook here possible. And thats the biggest reason why an investment much above $300, and likely capping out at $400, is hard to stomach.

I just checked, my CF-19 is actually a MK1. My CF-30 is a MK2. Both are pretty much fully loaded too. The upgrades in the CF-19 are easier to remove though, and it is defiantly the slower beast.

I just put a Best Offer in for a MK5. If I get it at or close to my offer, it will be a very good deal at half the going price for eBay MK6 models. That savings is worth the very small bump down.

My offer was accepted. So I got a MK5 for $150!!! No drive or caddy, but I have them from the MK1. This gives me enough room to upgrade to a SSD drive, emmissive keyboard, and bump memory to 16gb.

I also have the fingerprint scanner, uprated GPS, and a couple other little goodies to put in there. And should be able to keep it under $400 total.

Well I think I just found the perfect Toughbook for me! A shiny new CF-20, with a shiny new Panasonic price tag to match... I am blown away by its thinness and light weight. But I will wait likely until the first batch comes off lease....
