Well, I missed this thread, and now within a week one 18 grew up and became a 19 with two little cousins! To those wanting a good Linux operating system on the 18, I'm currently using CrunchBang found here: http://crunchbang.org/download/
You'll want to download the 32 bit for older systems (non PAE), however once installed the system runs quite briskly. Even Zorin 9 Lite was sluggish on this little guy. Its easy to add xinput-calibrator and foxtrotgps via synaptic package manager. There are several tutorials over on the Linux side of this great website.
Morgan is right, my mSATA's did not arrive yet but the adaptors Kerry sent look nice, and I'll be trying one out on a CF-29 and the other on this CF-18KDHZAVM.
Concerning your CF-19, all the above advice is "right on", and you'll be very happy with your ssd installed in that and maxing out your RAM. Welcome to the wonderful world of Toughbooks. This weekend my family grew when two 29's showed up on our front porch in a basket.
