How do I get buttons on the front right to work? cf-18 mk4

#1 Post by Rocksolid »

Hello guys! I have just gotten this Mk4 cf-18.... I installed xp pro, using the key on the bottom of the unit... installed service pack#2... downloaded a folder of drivers for mk4 version... I did not load them all as it seems they all do not pertain to this laptop... I have the touchscreen model... everything seems to be working, except for the front buttons under the right palm rest... The screen dim/brighten buttons lights up and only works when you first power the laptop on, for about 2 seconds, after the xp splash screen pops up they no longer work and you must restart to brighten it if you turned it down!... The other buttons do not work at all and I'm unsure what they do anyways... except for the keyboard button should pull up a touch keyboard for when i flip the screen around, right?... Also, the "A" & "S" buttons work sometimes, mainly when you first start-up either it works then or you can restart the laptop once or twice and they will start working... If they are working, they work until you turn it off... then next time, same story, might have to restart a few times! Do I need to install some tablet software for this to work?... Thanks a bunch guys for any and all help!... This is my first tablet but not my first toughbook, I miss my old cf-28!... Thanks again, Kelly

I don't know if it matters, but my model # is: CF-18KHH43BM

Download Details:
Title: Display Rotation Tool Application
Model Number: CF-18K/L(mk4) Windows XP Pro SP2 Touchscreen Model CF-18[K/L][H/J/K/L/N/M]xxxBx
Operating System: Windows XP SP2

Language: English(North America)
Last Updated Date: 2005/10/06

disprot_18_4_d030650.exe [1.22 mb]

This file is self-expandable on any Toughbook model‚ but the drivers
can only be installed (used) on the applicable model number.
Did you install the above driver? What you really need is the restore disk for it. It really is the way to go.

Yes, I loaded that one, it shows up as a icon on the bottom right of my screen,.. I can click it and it rotates the screen, but that is the only way I know to use it... the buttons still do not work... do you know where I can get a copy of the restore disc?... Is it just one disc or more?.... Thanks, Kelly
