cf-29 beeping sound when booting?

#1 Post by Driller »

have a cf-29ETPCKKM that boots to bios but was purchased for a parts machine as it had the gps card removed from above the battery bay. had another cf-29 ET model with hdd and caddy that I thought I'd put in it to boot to see if the touchscreen would work. anyway the beeping started when I hit the F10 key and wouldn't go further from the panny blue screen. checked the ram as it had the ddr hynix 512mb and 512 mb on the MB looked ok and haven't checked it to another machine yet. opened it up and the sled for the gps is inside the machine, the thermal pads were in good shape nothing appeared disconnected , wifi card intel intact, wiring from screen to the battery bay area had grey ufla connector attached to the sled, but ofcourse no gps card. would this be an issue with the card removed and I need to disable the gps in bios and save setup or something more sinister going on here, thanks........Driller

Could be a stuck key. Remove the keyboard and see if it does it with no keyboard installed.

You might try a hard reset by removing the battery and ac adapter and holding the power switch down for 5 sec
Then add ac adapter and hit F2 while booting and on the last tab ,reset to defaults
Any change of com port items can mess things up

did that, just like you said, replaced the KB with another one and it goes thru like it should. I should have noticed that a couple of the keys looked a bit melted, the f7 f8 and the period key. came up new hardware and says UGX, what does that mean? thanks man, .........Driller , oh, BTW, touchscreen works fine as well

Probably a hardware item that was previously disabled and now showing up with the bios reset
Busy now or I would check on "UGX"

Yes it's the bluetooth, You need to go to windows update and get SP2 update.
