I get same message, by touchscreen is bad. whats your do when you touch the screen normally?

my cursor jumps to far lower right corner. cleaned around the bezel with a business card and no trash. been lookin and asking around and everyone has said its a dead TS.

Yes I would say it's dead. You could try to do a full OS install and then install the drivers in the proper order or pick up a restore disk set and try that....you can load the OS + the drivers in about 23 minutes. :D
Even if you can't get the touch to work you still have a good compurer. I have 2 with one touch not working. I use a BT mouse all the time anyways so not having the touch not working was no big deal to me

What is the full model number of the 29. Hope its not the SBC one...CF-29HTM50BM

If you are looking for the restore/recovery disk send me a PM and I will send you the info on who has them.

I lost my touchscreen after I installed Windows 7 and after a month of screwing with it I put XP Pro back in but the touch never came back. I have since installed XP twice since then, once with the restore disk and once the long way.....XP then all the drivers in order and still nothing. I think I just might take the touch out of the MK1 or 4 and put it in the MK5 .

Best thing you can do Blair
The mk-1 touchscreen is the most reliable in my opinion

That's what I think I will do. My 26 year old daughter has this now but told her I was going to upgrade it to a MK4.

Shoot.

I swapped the glass, the serial board, and now the lcd/touch cable, and it still operates randomly. Perfectly one second, and then parameter error and or to the right side of the screen...

I did have trash caught in the gasket when I transferred the glass, but thought I got it all.

I had gotten an sbc lid from lxsys (I think) and he said it was known to work. Here's the dirty::

got an mk1, had an "oil stain" above the start button (on screen). touch worked great
then it started intermittent operation. tried the toothpick thing, didn't help
took my lid apart, poked around, re-assembled, and it worked! for a while
then the cursor would only go to the bottom
this problem would occur at random times, at random intervals, and go back to working
got the donor sbc lid
swapped the touch glass and serial board
worked great, for a while
same symptoms (except now cursor goes to the right instead of bottom). screen goes from randomly not working to perfect calibration
lived with it for 6 mo's or so
decided to swap the lcd/lcd cable, as it was the only common denominator (besides the mobo )
worked great throughout the evening last night, till my wife used it
now the cursor only goes to the extreme right, but still tracks up and down
I'm waiting for it to randomly be calibrated
AND now I have no touch pad as i broke the lock on the receptacle! dernit.

The only thing that might be worth mentioning, is that before the touch would go to the extreme right, it would loose accuracy for a short time first. calibration would be near perfect on the right side of the screen, and the farther to the left side of the screen I would touch, the farther out of sync the pointer and my finger would be.
