Bad cable equals no lights too. Hey Rich...are the green lights showing? Should be one solid green above MP( the one with the arrow. )

Unless as you say Shawn, it's the touch-pad portion of the board.

Right now I'm thinking the white cable might not be seated correctly......it's next to cmos battery.....if seller reached in and yanked cmos plug he/she may have disturbed the TP FPC.

Reads like detective novel. (not defective novel...I know you were thinking it) :)

Thanks,

J'd...got fourth fail on TS repair....looks like I need to buy some TS panels)

So now I need a MK5 mobo. This one only has 1100 hours on it.

I hit enter for the above message and while it was sending the screen went scizzo then snap!

I didn't think my TS repair was that bad. Reads like a power fuse....it would be funny but.....oh well it is funny....the only thing working now is the green light mentioned above. rofl Where's the crime scene tape....I need to mark this beast.

Plugged in cmos and booted, slow boot Win Xp logo then quick blue screen flash then windows did not boot successfully, selected normal startup and loops.

Going home, will check cables you guys mentioned, if no help then Jeff we can talk about the previously mentioned options. I would go for trade or repair. We'll see.

Have a good weekend. You guys are funny

It's not liking your ssd. Now that the brain has a battery it thinks it is smarter than you.

What I mean is XP is checking hardware, finding your ssd and bsod. You might be making progress. :)

I'd try re-installing XP. NOT repair. After checking cables. END EDIT

Jeff
To earlier question, I don't think mp had green light

12500 hours on bios.

I'm up for trade, but will try reinstalling xp Monday not repair. I still have the back off so I will check cable near cmos battery

It's a weird one.

Most of the ones I have seen have a piece of rubber tucked in to keep the latch shut.

By the way don't run the laptop with the bottom off. The heat coming through those thermal pads has to go somewhere. Doesn't have to be screwed on....well maybe the one screw by the ram door.

You probably knew that.

I have a dandy set aside for you. It's the one with the OEM media bay hdd. :) Running MX-14..

See ya next week.
