Apparently all this tough talk scared it. Quickly checked some connections this morning reassembled, boot up, and viola touchpad is working great. Touchscreen still is not. One small victory at a time. Going to reboot a few times and see what happens, check settings :pat:

Sometimes a computer has to be booted twice for changes to take affect. (teo said so one time)

Sometimes an actual BOOT is required. 13 EEE

Do you want this media bay hard drive? OEM Panasonic 120 Gb MX 14.4. Can be anything. For your intended purposes it would be the cat's meow.
Xp for your radios...GPS later maybe, XP shut off in bios...daily use would be Linux. Put a third OS inside the back door on a micro stick????or one plugged in and another tied to it with dental floss (UNCNDL1 trickery) and tucked inside. I like everything inside with the doors shut.

Speaking of GPS I have CF-30GPS running on a MK4 CF-29. Plugs into board on the sled. Requires running an antenna somewhere. I need wiring schematic for DFUP1301ZB (1). Particularly the voltage on the USB plug in that is on bottom of the PCB. It's on my USB Hard Drive I think....(the schematic)

Since you're reading this anyway Shawn, I used one of the cables you sent with the red lids. Shiny. :boing:

The best and simplest way to fix the touchscreen is a new TS panel. Bright and clear. You may as well get one before you open the lid.

Good show.

Jeff

Jeff, Thanks for the offer, but I don't need the media bay hdd. This is a pretty simple set up. No wwan card or gps needed. I fix boats, so I use it for the marine diagnostic software, which also needs Windows, so no other operating systems needed.

I will check out some vids on replacing the touchscreen, not absolutely necessary to have working, but will probably get it going.

Like I said before, no apologies needed. Sometimes you have to go sideways to go forward. (most running backs will agree with that I think). I really appreciate you guys having all this knowledge and the willingness to help. :salute:

edit - Wow this thing is fast compared to my CF-29 MK2 - end edit

I've been in and out of PM and all with three people lately that are running 29's.

Could I be confused?

Anything is possible. We have a couple of customers that have identical boats, one time I was having trouble duplicating a problem when I realized I was in the wrong boat. I wasn't aware that we had both customers at the same time.

The thing is, if folks are reading all the CF-29 posts then I don't have to hit rewind. lol

I type when I'm cooking. If anyone recognizes this as applying to them....yell at me PM.....I don't want to say that I don't have time but both / all of us have to do a little reading, yes?

hint: Go some place quiet and read what I write "out loud". I am trying to get away from "text chat"....what a killer of written English!

Adios, three lamb/spud tacos waiting for me......

Thanks,

Cookie

Ok, all is working now. Thanks to Jeff the touch screen is new and shiny. touchpad worked for quite a while then it would quit after being powered up for an hour or two. Checked connections many times. Even changed the the pcb the touchpad plugs into with no help. While I was changing that board for the second time (thanks Jeff for some parts) I noticed that the ribbon cable that goes from the motherboard to the touchpad board had a wire hanging off of it at the touchpad board. Installed "new" ribbon cable, and it is fixed. Let it run all night long (ran over 16 hours) and it works great.

Thanks again to Jeff for touchscreen repair, parts and knowledge. Thanks to Shawn too
