4 cf-29's. looking great.

#1 Post by Bill_TN »

Just "received" them today. Missing caddies and cd drives. But they all boot and look better than my own toys do. Is there a way to check the hours on these? Not finding it in bios.

Old School..... grab by the the hinge side and shake. If the handle falls open than it has a few :) hours on it.

Right here by my feet is a 38,000 hour 29MK-5.....looks good...works good.

I have multiple 51 hdd.....in wrapper. Working cows next two weeks........be patient. :salute:

Ok. Shook. No handles twitched. Good sign? Heck they are hard to PULL out, didn't figure they would drop out. I'm kicking myself now. Because I didn't bother to boot them each up. 1 had a functional hdd with OS on it. :boing: Time to play. :pbjt:

Aint that a kick in the pants. One of these lists as a touch screen. No touch screen. I'll recheck bios settings but nada on the touch so far. But hey no prob. She's a beauty just the same. Wonder what mark these are?

Going to try MX-15 and 4m on one of the 29's. Already know that Watt runs well enuff. Updated. No I am not. Both MX 14 thru 15 are for pae and this machine requires a non pae kernel. Watt works tho.

I tried minecraft with mine on it under Ubuntu 10.10 and got it to work. I had every setting at the bottom though and it was still a little buggy. Halo played smooth though. I had it set up with a dual boot where ubuntu was installed under windows xp.

Well they did a patch for MX15 and now it has both kernels. Boots and runs, slowly, from live dvd. Have a ubuntu 10.10 might try, an old copy of EEE buntu worked, but there will be no support. Anti-X 15 works, MX's other side. Going to try micro watt. I seem to like watt now.

I just reloaded that toughbook last night to try some newer stuff on it. It's a Mk3 CF-29 I just dropped windows 7 pro on it from the xp install that was on it. Once I get processes cut down, etc and a linux dual booted on it let me see what I can do on getting minecraft running again on it if it will.
