cf 29 new load problem

#1 Post by dirty-harry »

My son has a cf 29 mk1 , cf29ctkgzkw and when he got it the hard drive was formatted. I tried loading through dos and i386 folders but no luck. I then purchased a cd-rom for it and tried xp sp2 and sp3 with no luck. I even tried an automatic ghost of xp sp3 but they all seem to freeze on drivers or the windows start up bar.
I'm at my wits end so hopefully someone can shed some light for me.
thanks in advance

Is your CDROM installed in the media bay or is it USB?

Here is the correct way to do this.

F2 to bios.
Change boot order with CD on top.
With a media bay CDROM run Panasonic Factory Restore CD for MK1.

Any other method is going to drive you nuts. The price has come way down on media bay drives.

I don't think I have a MK1 disk here but someone may.

Hang in there and welcome to the zoo.

Thanks Jeff
I did the Bios change and it is the bay and recognized but I don't have the MK1 restore cd.
That is probably my problem so I'll look for the cd online.
Thanks again.

Check with us here before buying to make sure you are getting the right one O.K? They are looking a little hard to find.

Edit: Guess what I found. Send your email to my link on info page bluerockranchca. See below. :D

Thanks,

I got the restore cd's and they loaded no problem but when I take out the final cd and restart the computer it freezes on the start up bar. It will start in safe mode and seems to work, touch screen also. The only thing not loaded is the sierra modem 5625. I did a chkdsk repair but no dif.
Any ideas?
thanks.

Another hint of the problem is if I try to start it in safe mode with networking, it freezes up.

Pull the wireless card and try it. Also any extras like battery :), Optical/floppy. The 5625 is on a sled? Pull that too.

You running a 2100 WLAN?

Do the default bit.
1.Pull power. (all)
2.Hold switch on for thirty seconds a time or two to lose any stray electricity running around in there.
3.With power supply only F2 to bios and set to default. (My idea on this is it eliminates acpi from the drill at this point)(type acpi in a terminal in Linux and it gives battery voltage yah?)

Read about SP2 and wireless here: http://www.google.com/search?btnG=1&pws ... Fpanasonic
Replace TEST with your query. I think there is some stuff there. (Yep, 10 or more google pages)
