Re-purposing my CF-29 MK1

#1 Post by Rob »

Hey guys,

As you all may know, I have officially switched over to the Toughpad for in-vehicle ANYTHING.

I have removed my CF-29 MK1 (dull as HELL screen) + 12" PDRC (VDL01).

The thing is reliable as HELL and hate to toss it!!! So I can either sell it or re-purpose it! I'm thinking about the later of the two.

Any cool ideas y'all can think of that I could use it for??? Lets come up with some crazy ideas here!!! Personally, I was thinking about getting a Homeseer (Home automation) server going with the touch interface to control all the lights and whatnot!

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Hi Rob,

ideas will depend strongly on what kind of stuff you're into.
some random thoughs
1) do you like festivals? provide wifi infrastructure and use your tb as battery-backedup wifi control server. fun to do, provides network for yourself, gains you access to backstage area amongst other perks
2) place the superflous tb at workplace and just carry the harddrive along while commuting
3) play around with differents operating systems
4) add some usb disks and use it as a home media / file / backup / firewal / network-monitoringl server
5) rack-mount and use as terminal for tbt servers. those sliding keyboard-shelves are really cheap on ebay. probably needs 2u height tough

Use an "old" CF 29 to beat Dell and Hp laptops to bits while videoing it for youtub. Bonus points for beating anything CrApple to shreds.
Life will beat you into submission.
