Speaking of wwan cards...

#1 Post by marconi »

k, so I bought a CF-29CWPCCKM
Has Factory BT and B wifi.. and an SB555 verizon modem.
configurator says evdo-verizon so Im guessing it must be a 1xrtt

I just tried the sb555 for mobility driver as suggestd by Teo in an old thread.
Here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=377566
This driver: sb555g_win2k_xp.exe (2076114 Bytes, English)

So far, Its turned on in Bios, It is listed as working in Hardware Manager.
I assigned com 7 as primary and com8 as secondary, the Watcher just never sees the modem. maybe I picked the wrong Com port?
Lites on the front work and looks like it sees a network, both z and Ant are lit.
switch on front even works.
I even disabled the WiFi and BT, still nogo
I prolly wont get it activated cause its only a 1xrtt but want to be sure it works.
Anything I forgot? Did I Fubar the install?
Oh, If its on the wrong port, How do I change it?

On the Bluetooth which works well, but I need to change its program as it says I have 29days left. I'm guessing I picked the wrong one . used the 26mb file instead of the Big 142mb one.

Anybody else played with these/

Got it working.

I had to find the correct program and driver.
Then find a pair of ports that would work.

Now, to find a Bluetooth driver that dont expire in a month!!!

Did you get this off of eBay from intechraparts-windsor-ct . I have the same model # as you but I never got the evdo-verizon -1XRTT with it . Did not care anyways because I live in canada so it would not be any good to me. My bluetooth works but I have no program either . Still looking around but no luck yet :headbang:

Nice to meet you Blair.

Yep, same machine.

I'm still playing with it., I'm new at Bluetooth.
I got some drivers from TB Rick but they are the same as what I had.
Thanks for trying anyhow, Rick :)
One of them (Widcomm) almost worked but it kept giving me script errors.
The Toshiba one from Panny absolutely did not work., Very strange.

I've tried so many now I think I've lost track some.
I've even tried Toshiba's site and many diff versions with the same result.
"evaluation Copy - 30days left". or not compatable, or no device found.
One that did work well came up as evaluation only. That really bites.
I just don't get it., why even make an eval version if you cannot upgrade it?
I've googled till my eyes became bloody tired of reading all the bad experiences with Toshiba and they're lack of support with everyone getting 30day NAGS.

Anyhow, what I did get working without the nag so far was one of the panny programs but it didnt like any of the drivers, I had tried it before and it didnt work, so I went back to it and let windows of all things download a couple of drivers and it seemed to go thru ok.
I can now connect to my phone and it will see other BT devices but thats all it does for now.
Kinda useless. as it wont upload or download anything just yet, altho I think the BT mouse will work ok. Plus the other program I use for BT device proximity works well.

Also, I did get the WWAN working but had to use a very old Verizon program to get that up and going too.
I'm thinking on getting rid of this one anyway, as its been too much hassle.
I really want the EVDO rev A or Gobi anyhow in my 29L with GPS.

When I get home tonite I will look and see which one I used and let you know.
I will be ftp'ing all of the drivers and programs I have soon. so others can try as well.

Chuck

I did the same thing as you ...let windows install the drivers . All I cared about was my bluetooth mouse at the time . My phone has its own program but have not installed it yet . But like you it would be nice to have a bluetooth program ....that last more than 29 days :) If I find one I will let you Know.

Hey Dan you know I just might have that software. I got one of them bluetooth dongle off ebay a couple months ago for my CF-28 and I think it came with the BlueSoleil program . I just finished doing a fresh install on this and have been fighting with the intel pro wireless. It worked great before I did the fresh install but can not connect now  .I can slide my linksys pc card in and find my wireless router no problem at all. I think I am having a brain dead day or something. This is what I get for messing with a fine working toughbook.
Anyways I am going to check my cf-28 later on to see if it is the BlueSoleil program and will let you know.
Thank you
Blair
