Chrome OS on my CF-19 MK7?

#1 Post by Rob »

What is the difference between "Chrome Linux" and "Chrome OS Linux"?

http://getchrome.eu/download.php

Just doing a mini side project :)

Thanks!

I think just a marketing ploy of changing the name or possibly just a clarification of what the system does.

Notice the version numbers are in sequence IN THE LINK.

You are best served with the "new" version or the one just below it. Going back any further and you get a system that is not necessarily upgrade-able to the new/latest package. See FAQ.

Notice key words: I THINK, POSSIBLY and NOT NECESSARILY. 8)
Fair for you/ Fair for me.

Too bad you don't have an inside source at Google. You might be able to "acquire" a copy of the real corporate Google OS. Google’s own desktop OS, Goobuntu

Support for Cr OS Linux
Frequently Asked Questons

Is Cr OS Linux 2 compatible with legacy Chrome OS Linux 1?
Unfortunately, no. Cr OS Linux 2 is based on openSUSE 12.2 with the latest Cinnamon desktop environment (a fork of GNOME 3), which is incompatible with the legacy Chrome OS Linux 1, which was based on openSUSE 11.4 with GNOME 2. You have to reinstall it from the latest ISO image.

I checked this ... from Rob's link.

1. Why is it offshore? Offshore is probably the wrong word.............Why are there no US of A links?
2. There are way too many links for magic super download times. " We can download in fourteen minutes or four plus hours....your choice Ace". and etc.

Let's talk about it....meanwhile, why won't they accept Paypal....as much as I dislike PayPal they do work as an insulation barrier between my credit card and the rest of the known world.
Fair for you/ Fair for me.

The download was AWFUL Jeff... All this horsepower (1Gb fiber) and no where to ride...

But so who do we know with an inside source for this OS?

I mean the main goals are quite simple here:

Run NATIVELY...

1) Google Maps with GPS and pinch 'n zoom
2) Pandora for music.

Of course my CF-19 MK7 dual touch has pinch 'n zoom now with the shitty Windows 10 system and it of course has a dedicated GPS in it which I also already paid $15 Euros for GPS Direct here: https://www.turboirc.com/gps7/ Works Fan-freakin-tastic... It esentially enables me to use a NON-Ublox (modern, lets say MK7 - MK8 GPS kit) in my current CF-19.. The GPS is a $27 pull from and MK2.

Micro$oft maps works but it's pure garbage compared to Google maps. I mean it's fast and fluid especially with GPS Direct but it's just not as good as Google Maps. I must say that Microsoft maps is UNUSABLE without that $15 GPS Direct software. Yes, a dedicated GPS is also required. My buddy has a new CF-20 and they don't offer dedicated GPS in it unless you forgo the 4G LTE... Useless as well to say the least as 4G LTE is a requirement... Panasonic was stupid and decided it would be acceptable to make the GPS/4G LTE as a mutally exclusive option, no doubt to save space and make it smaller but they take the same slow now... Less, you get the 4G LTE and it has GPS on it but it's crap compared to the good ol' trusty CF-19 dedicated GPS...

First world problems!

Thanks!

I don't always use the "free" version...believing a squared away program may be cheaper for me in the long run....and my server is already slow...so why pinch it through the venturi of free.........iow if I have time now to look at the program then why chose the slow boat?

Secondly it was a test, on my part, of the hype. I call this a fail. Personal opinion.

Venturi is a word, whether or not the spell check likes it.

This Chrome fork looks interesting but location services is disabled.

https://www.neverware.com/freedownload

This Arnoldthebat builds may work.
Try the "specials" downloads

Well it does say this at the bottom and sort of explains a few things.
Cr OS Linux is not related to Google. The service is powered by SUSE Studio.
Daily drives a CF-31
