I just installed Makulu-9 xfce full program on a terabyte drive on a mk-3 30. eating sandwich while typing.:D

same results as you on calibrator.

UPDATE: Built an iso from updated program using Makulu Constructor. Some kind of minor error in the log but it installed fine with all my "stuff" to a wiped USB stick. Running the usb program now.

9 1/2 of 10 or better. IMHO

Thanks,

J'd...more edits if it will stick in a MK-1...stand-by

I was reading emails yesterday when I got an error message about the desktop crashing. I clicked the 'Restart' button in the error window and thought all was good, but when I minimized the browser, all I had was a black desktop. Do I need to remove and reload the variety(?) desktop manager, or is there a better way? I have tried to get the desktop back the way it was for a couple hours but no luck. Everything, settings, etc, look as they were in the desktop managers before the crash, I even tried changing some settings and then changing them back, but still no luck. Any ideas, or R&R variety desktop manager? Thanks.

Hey mate....are you using Mate, XFCE or cinnamon? Variety is the picture manager and I disable it soon as I can.
Trying to boot 31/Makula to recovery ....it's too quick. More later......wanted you to know I was here. :D

EDIT: They use the escape key, not the tab. :pat: Recovery menu has two things to run....not sure what order. dpkg and fsck. I used fsck to sort something earlier. OK I ran dpkg and am offered packages but get unable to fetch. :pat: I wonder if the wireless is disabled......

Suggest fsck first then dpkg. Google is your friend on these I'm not.

Also there are two menu pages ....one Makulu and one Ubuntu. Both have recovery.

The best of the best to you.

:salute:

FWIW
The problem is it’s hanging at battery state. You need to hit the space bar during the countdown at startup and it brings up a menu for alternative startups. It’ll run without the splash screen. When it hangs at battery state press ctrl,atl,f3 and it will bring up login. makulu is the password and username.
This was a new install of LXFCE and probably has zip to do with your problem. :salute:

I ran both fsck and dpkg in all the different recovery versions, not luck, or lots of luck...all bad, depends on how you look at it. :) I removed and then installed Variety with no change. I think something else is broke. I am running the 64 bit XFCE Makulu. Have to live with it for now.

Sky rumbled a little. One down strike near Rockport right near the beach.....no fire.

I'm using Xfce also but with Variety disabled....I'll change pics when I want. :) When Variety was on I was getting a quick flicker every minute when the clock changed.....I might be missing something there. Read quite a bit about it, it's interconnected to some other programs. I did an update today too.

Are you using dual monitors?
Dual-monitor support:
On dual-monitor machines, you probably want to open Ubuntu’s Appearance settings (or whatever is the place for changing wallpaper settings on your distribution) and change the wallpaper display mode from the default Zoom to Span. You may then also want to spend some time customizing the image sources in Variety so that it fetches images with the proper resolution to cover both monitors.

I am not using dual monitors, no dock.

I use my Toughbook pictures with Variety, then I have the clock and my pictures.

I have no flicker problem on this 30.

As I said, I think there is some other problem as I removed and re-installed Variety with no change.

I will have to live with it as is for now. Don't have a lot of time to spend on it.

I bet it's the CF-31 doing it in my case. I'll try it in a CF-30 to confirm.

Thanks.
