I'll have to retry the calibrate again later on, computers already put away ready for work tomorrow...but for the VM Ive got xp pro working on it(solved my need for two c : drivesin dual boot and I think will work forthat...I'll test this week and see) but Linux mint cinnamon and mate will only load to the live CD, won't install...I'm going to try to get to the bottom of it...because If out integrates like xp did that would be awesome...(shares usb ports, CD, and Bluetooth and internet)...

I haven't given up...just learning with allot of trial and error lol, backed up my HD just incase I screw up to bad lol

Are you burning the iso to the dvd or usb?

If so go slow and walk me through the steps.

Thanks,

Jeff...it should "just work"...
What computer again?

64 struggles to even load(at least on my30) 32bit makes it, I've tried upping the ram it's seeing in virtual, going to try some more, also might try a fixed virtual hd size instead of the dynamic one( I've read so many different things saying this and that...I'm just going to do trial and error lol). Also on a side note xp is running pretty solid on it in vm...

I know nothing about VM.

I know 17 /32 will load on any mark CF-30 and mk 4 and 5 CF-29 using a DVD or USB.

Good luck.

Let me ask you a question, would you please list the model number and main operating system with specs of what you are currently using on the CF-30? I do NOT have a Windows system to try out what you are doing, however I am impressed you have XP working well in a VM (virtual machine).
I would download a Linux version of your choice, and start with 32 bit. http://www.linuxmint.com/oldreleases.php
Then, since you are currently using Windows as your main OS (I think), I would go to this place and download this nifty program, and burn the previously downloaded iso of linux to a usb stick: http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
This will give you a live version of Linux, that you can run from usb. Be sure to change to boot order in your system by pressing F2 when you see the Panasonic screen, save F10, and Bob's your uncle. It will/should function pretty well right out of the box, once you connect to the internet. You should be able to navigate the hard drive on your system and view files. There is no need to load Linux into VM (from my point of view). If....and only if you like the version of Linux you settle on, you can click on the "install" icon on your desktop, and it will load Linux side-by-side your Windows system. Then when you turn on and boot up your Toughbook, you will have a choice as to which operating system to load. This is how I started out. Then I found another caddy/hard drive and loaded Linux solely on one, and had Windows on the other. Then I liked Linux so much, I got rid of all the Windows and installed only Linux. I'm not advocating this for everyone, however just running a usb or cd "live" should allow you to view all of the contents of the hard drive on your system. Enjoy. :pat:

We got off the subject....WWIA...what was it anyway? No problem we're all friends here.

We would really like to know what you are doing as it impacts the ones of us that hopefully steer others to a path that works....not a slam o.k?

If you are doing something different or weird you have come to the right place. How many posts have I seen (in other forums) where the postee asked "why are you doing that"? You know what...it's my computer and I am doing it this way "because I want to try it".

Orville and Wilbur would be proud of you. And if it works...so much the better....but please please share the success with the rest of us when you have time to write it out clearly. I know you are busy.

Take care and most of all share.

J'd ..I have no idea what you are doing but carry on sir...:D
