xrandr query says you were at 1024x768x60hz already. Should be interesting to see if specifying it in xorg actually does anything.

#22 Post by SHEEPMAN! »

This was after the 800x600 test.
Since then the mouse crashed, X crashed and a few other things.

The xrandr query is not what it looked like before tonight. Here's something for your amusement. oh wait....I'll stop it flickering.....closes lid, waits 6 seconds....that's better. :) So the big numbers towards the bottom are after suspend.....I think you know that. The LVDS1 line I have only seen a couple times....so adding the /etc/X11///etc affected something.

Jeff, downloading torrents now for Slitaz 4.0, Slitax 5.0 RC2, 7.6.0 Xfce, Rescue, Gnome, Standard, etc. All onto a CD.
Testing results for a CF-30MK3 to follow. Call me when convenient. Best regards, Cleve

I think the xorg logs are of little use. Jeff, try this.

Code: Select all

xrandr --query --verbose > /tmp/query1
Close the lid then open it back up like you usually do to clear the flicker. Then type these two commands:

Code: Select all

xrandr --query --verbose > /tmp/query2
diff /tmp/query1 /tmp/query2
Maybe we can see what changes occur once you close the lid. You are redirecting the verbose output of xrandr into two files in order to compare them. If you get nothing after doing the diff (which parses query1 and query2 for differences), we'll have to look elsewhere.

Clean up after yourself:

Code: Select all

rm /tmp/query1
rm /tmp/query2

Cool. Let me know how it goes and post the output of the diff, if any.

That proves that mode settings do not change after the lid goes down. Have you looked into the i915 power save bug? I thought I told you to try this command around here at one time or another:

Code: Select all

echo 0 > /sys/module/i915/parameters/powersave
Edit: might need to throw in a sudo if you aren't su.

powersave now says 0 but no change in flicker.

I don't care about the flicker I just want to know why. :D

Heartfelt thanks for chiming in with the info.
