gpsd has to be running for gpsmon to work.
Gpsmon is a sort of a xgps.
If you want to clean it up...from synaptic package manager mark for complete removal gpsd-clients
Mark for complete removal gpsd
install gpsd and gpsd-clients...............libgps20 should be part of one of the packages. Install cutecom.
etc.
IOW if it's messed up just remove and re-install.

Keep us posted mate,

Jeff
Fair for you/ Fair for me.
I chose to NOT be organized.

Command line (terminal install) of gpsd works this way too.
sudo apt-get install gpsd gpsd-clients # loads it all at once.
xgps #can be run with-out sudo is in the package
We'll keep expanding on this for a bit.
Thanks Prof. Cleve and Morgan the proof reader.
Read $man gpsd # some time ....reminder" # " is a handy bit. Programs in Linux don't read anything past the #. Handy for comments.
She works! following Jeff's instructions above on a MK3 CF-30, I've got Terminal scrolling sats and Foxtrot Gps locked on my position. I can save the screen shot but NOT post but can attest that yes the gps is working, and working well... :pat:
