Getac M220

#1 Post by Azrial »

I have a set of Getac M220 that I am trying to refresh and reload the OS. They are WinXP Pro right now and have 512MB of RAM. I do not know what the max RAM the machine will support. I can look that up.

Has anyone put Linux on one?

Well I did just find something interesting in an old article, in case someone else is on this quest...
The M220 was standard with XP, but Linux was a factory option! L@@K HERE!

I also found the M220 is still supported on the company website, but can not find any support for Linux there.

They even still had the User's Manual, here.

And here I found the Linux TouchScreen Driver

Well, that's all for now! :D

The M220 is pretty similar to a CF-29. It uses the same Intel Chipset to support a 1.6 GHz Centrino CPU. The big difference is that there is no on-board RAM, so with 2 slots that gives you an easy 2GB of RAM. I have not tried to put Win7 on it, as mine is presently only 512k, it is running Navitrix Linux. It runs pretty well considering the present limited memory!

More later!

One of these days I'll get my hands on an M220 to futz around with. They seem like really great pieces of kit. Is it hard to get accessories for it like caddies and batteries?
