The XR-1 is more rugged, replacement for the GoBook III (IX-260+). Specs are similar to CF-30 (Core Duo 2 GHz) but with better video (Radeon X300 128MB)

VR-2 has the edge on performance (C2D 2.2GHz T7500) and not quite so bulky or heavy. The VR-2 is more domesticated, made for squad car -to- desktop kind of service. Still a bit rugged but not fully sealed etc. In my mind kinda like a CF-74 business semi-rugged ...

The VR-2 I got had a blister on the lid with built-in BT but no GPS. Inside the blister there was wiring for a GPS, so took the good performing GPS out of a $40 GoBook III and swapped it into the VR-2 with only a little fiddling. Did a post on that a few days ago.

I was looking at a VR-2 the other morning but by the time I got back to it ...sold. What I liked about it was the black keyboard and the overall looks of it. The one I seen even had the fingerprint reader and $329.99 shipped looked good too :D .
Thanks for the link to the ac...going to order a couple

Those seem to work good on GoBook 2, 3, and XR-1. But the VR-2 has a smaller diameter center pin, so it takes a different charger more like the HP ones.

I've read that the GD6000, VR-1 and VR-2 use the same power adapter.

They sure do use the same one.
One CF-52, four CF-18's, 4.5 CF-28's, one CF-29, five CF-M34's, two CF-37's, one CF-P2 and two CF-P1's. There are also two Getac A320T's, one Fieldpac and two IBM Transnotes. Not to mention the AMD 5600 CPU with three monitors and several HP PDA's. Whew! Must quit buying...no, must have MORE! Then there are the weapons...

I'm looking for an inexpensive replacement. I hear there's an HP, a Dell and maybe an IBM that will fit.

Will the power adapter for an IX260 fit a VR-2?

I am no expert, but from what I have been able to discern, the IX250/IX260 (GoBook II and III) both use the same adapter (as does the IX300). The difference seems to be while all are 120/240 and 19 volts, they have two amperage and wattage ratings. One is 45 watts and 3.72 amps and the other is 90 watts and 4.74 amps. They all seem to use the same type of barrel plug, although some have a straight connector and some a 90 degree, also some are yellow tipped and some are black, but these may be due to the difference in amps/watts. If you look on the bottom of the unit, it will tell the exact requirements and I have found the Itronix to be just like a Toughbook in that if the connector works, the amps/watts are not that critical. If the supplied unit is more/less than what the laptop takes, the power adapter will either work a bit harder or a bit less to keep up. Hope this helps.

I read that the power adapter for the IX260 (ADP-90AB) does NOT fit the VR-2.
I saw listings on ebay that listed the same power adapter for the IX250 and VR-2.
Now you tell me the IX250 and the IX260 are the same.
A guy on ebay told me he didn't think the IX260 adapter would fit a VR-2.
A user in a Yahoo group told me the IX260 barrel will fit a VR-2 but that the inner part of the barrel is NOT snug enough to grasp the pin on the motherboard. He said placing a couple of copper shims in the barrel would snug it up.

I found an IX260 power adapter on ebay for a LOW price.

Itronix seems to list the following part numbers for a VR-2 power adapter ...
62-0547-002R
25.10251.001R
52-0196-001R
